After lunch, the two of them parted with the owner and his wife and walked out together.
It was already 4:00 p.m. and the owner’s wife told them that there was a night market ahead which would open at 5:00 p.m. It would be a lively and merry scene then, so the two of them decided to take a stroll.
Gideon had never visited a night market before in his life, so he was rather curious.
Besides, when he saw Nell’s excited look, it piqued his interest more so they walked side by side toward the night market.
Some passersby riding tandem bicycles went past them along the way. Nell saw it and she cried for a try.
Gideon had to walk to the bike rental along the road to rent one. However, after he pushed the bicycle out, he awkwardly realized he did not know how to ride one.
Nell chuckled before breaking into laughter.
Who would have thought that Mr. President could not ride a bicycle?
Gideon looked rather grumpy. He grew up in a wealthy background and of course, he had the highest class cars to drive him around. Why would he even learn to ride a lousy bicycle?
Nell saw the grumpy look on him so she quickly held her laughter back.
She told him to take the rear seat while she steered at the front. All Gideon had to do was pedal along with the motion.
Gideon reluctantly got on the rear seat and Nell stepped on the pedal after saying, “Let’s GO!”
The two of them rode the bicycle on the road and as the wind blew, the girl’s hair waved along and fluttered in front of the boy’s face. The fragrance from her hair was sweet and intoxicating.
Gideon was deeply affected by Nell’s pureness and he felt carefree.
Ever since Nell graduated from junior high, she had never ridden a bike before. Fortunately, after all those years of not touching a bike, she still maintained her skill in cycling and she was happy about it.
As she rode the bike, she started to hum a melody that she had learned during her school days.
Her humming was loud and soft, on and off at times because she was carrying someone on the bike and it demanded more strength from her. Therefore, compared to her usual humming or singing, she was not performing well at all.
Fortunately, Nell’s voice was already sweet and pleasant, so despite the hiccups, it sounded decent.
Gideon listened for a while before asking, “What are you humming?”
“Ballade pour Adeline. Have you not heard of it before?” Nell asked.
‘What? You hummed Ballade pour Adeline like that and you dare to say you’ve heard of it before?’
Gideon was speechless.
Since Gideon kept quiet, Nell took the opportunity and explained, “This instrumental is originally named the Song for Adeline and it’s composed by the famous musician Richard Clayderman. He even received the Golden Piano Award for this…”
Gideon looked slightly grumpy. He interrupted. “I know.”
Nell exclaimed and shrugged, “I forgot you played the piano quite well.”
The two of them rode the bike to the night market that the lady owner, Sister René, had mentioned.
The night market had just been opened so many stalls had not even displayed their goods. Nell dragged Gideon to a high-rated dessert shop for ice cream while waiting for the night market to fully open.
The shop was playing calm and casual music and the Turkish owner was teasing visitors at the entrance with his signature Turkish ice cream.
Nell quickly got bored after she finished her ice cream, yet she did not want to walk the night market while it was still in the preparation stage, so she walked to the entrance and watched the Turkish owner’s play.
The Turkish owner saw her and asked her whether she wanted to give it a try.
Nell hesitated but the owner encouraged her to try. She took the stick and the cone and started learning how to make Turkish ice cream.
She knew how to garnish a cake with cream and learning how to make Turkish ice cream felt more or less the same. The owner was also patient with teaching, so she was able to master it in a short while.
