Nell took a glance at her and smiled.
“It’s not your fault. I didn’t let you know when I went out. Additionally, even if you came with me last night, a picture of me visiting Tim at midnight would be snapped anyway. There’s really no difference to the outcome. It’d still be the same headlines today.”
Nancy grew more anxious.
“What should we do? Why don’t we tell Mr. Leith and let him clear up the matter?”
Nell shook her head.
“There’s no need for that. I'll handle it myself.”
She did not want to depend on Gideon on every little thing. They made a pact that she would thrive in time to one day, stand alongside him.
If she could not handle a trivial matter like this, what right did she have to stand alongside him?
Nell engaged in her thoughts as she freshened up in the bathroom.
Nancy was sweating bullets by the calm look on Nell’s face.
“Surely, someone is the mastermind behind this elaborate plot. Even if we’re not involving Mr. Leith in this, we shouldn’t just sit and wait!”
Nell was done cleansing her face and was wiping her face with a towel as she grinned. “Of course not.”
She paused before adding. “I’ll need you to do something for me this afternoon.”
“What is that?”
“Help me to...”
...
Nell freshened up, got ready, and ordered breakfast to the room to eat.
After doing this, she leisurely strolled to the set.
With the expose making headlines online, everyone on set had already found out.
The moment Nell walked into the set, all eyes were on her, albeit in a rather probing and strange manner. There were even a few, who believed the rumors online to be true, stared at her with a hint of contempt.
Fuming through the ear, Nancy glared back at them.
Nell kept her cool, acting as though she either was unaware of the incident or that the entire thing did not happen.
As always, she went to get her makeup done in the dressing room.
Celine came earlier than usual. By the time she entered the room, Celine was already sitting there.
She brought along her makeup artist and was having her hair braided. With Nell setting foot in, Celine mustered a fake smile.
“Sister, you’re here? I thought you’ll apply for leave today and won’t be coming over!”
To her surprise, Nell, who had given her the cold shoulder all along, responded to her.
She raised a brow. “Why would I apply for leave?”
Celine expressed shock.
“Sister, don’t tell me you don’t know yet?”
With that, Celine whipped out her phone and clicked on the trending topic for Nell to take a look.
“I saw it this morning. You don’t know how worried I am for you. I was thinking of visiting you if you didn’t show up later! I was unaware that you hadn’t known!”
With downcast eyes, Nell swept a glance at her phone.
Ignoring the fleeting smug on Celine’s face, Nell smiled.
“Oh, you’re talking about this. I know about this. What’s wrong?”
The onlookers widened their eyes in surprise.
How could she still keep her shirt on after finding out?
