Spoiled by the President novel Chapter 423

However, no matter how hard she wailed, the eyes of the man lying on the ground still remained shut.

An overwhelming sense of despair filled her entire being. It was like the entire world turned dark.

Inconsolably, she screamed, “GIDEON LEITH!!!”

Subsequently, she felt a sense of nausea in her throat, followed by a sharp pain in her abdomen. Her vision dimmed and she fainted.

When Nell awoke, she found herself lying on a hospital bed.

The moment her eyes opened, her automatically reached out to her side, but it was empty.

Her heart clenched. She hastily jumped down the bed and ran into the corridor.

Nell had just gotten to the door when she was stopped by a doctor. “Hey, where are you going?”

Nell grabbed him and shrieked hoarsely, “Where is Gideon Leith? Where is he?”

The doctor exhaled heavily. “You mean the injured man who was transported here together with you?”

Nell nodded tersely. Her expression was grave. “Where is he? Tell me now!”

“Oh, he’s still in surgery. Hey…”

Before the doctor could finish speaking, she had already sprinted away like a gust of wind.

On the third floor, at the entrance of the operating room.

When Nell got there, the neon sign on top of the operating room was still lit, which meant that the patient had not come out yet. The surgery has not ended.

The Griffin family stood around. Behind them were several stern-faced bodyguards.

Sitting atop the chairs were Old Madam Griffin and Bailey.

Nell’s face turned pale.

She staggered over to them. She dared not ask Old Madam Griffin, so she grabbed Bailey’s arm and asked, “How is he? Is he okay?”

Bailey looked at her panicked expression and tightened his eyebrows. After a long pause, he reluctantly replied, “The doctor said that his condition is severe. According to them, his chances of survival is less than ten percent.”

Upon hearing those words, Nell felt like she had just been clobbered in the head. It felt like the sky had just fallen on her.

She fell a step backward, her entire body almost collapsing. Fortunately, Bailey caught her in time.

“Sister-in-law!”

Old Madam Griffin was alarmed by Bailey’s loud yell, so she turned around to look at them.

Nell shook her head, tears streaming down her face.

It’s all my fault. Why did I trust her so easily? If I hadn’t been so stupid, this would not have happened. You wouldn’t have been attacked, or injured, I’m so sorry.”

Bailey looked at her misery and felt his heartstrings tugged.

Softly, he said, “Don’t be too hard on yourself. There is still a ten percent chance. It doesn’t mean he won’t make it.”

Old Madam Griffin also hurried over to console her. “Yes, don't despair, lest Gideon survives but you are the one who perishes.”

Nell was supported by them to sit on a chair.

Bailey asked, “Sister-in-law, you were at the scene. Do you know who is the assailant?”

Nell gripped the armrest so hard that her fingers hurt.

Her gaze turned ice-cold. Then, she quietly spoke. “I know.”

“Who?”

“Her name is Evelyn Brook. I thought that she was my best friend in this lifetime, but turns out… Hmph!”

She laughed self-loathingly. She did not know whether she was laughing at her own naivety and failure, or the sheer absurdness of the situation.

Bailey’s eyes widened.

He grabbed her arm hard and said sharply, “What did you say? What was her name?”
