Gideon’s face still looked quite unpleasant.
He did not answer nor speak.
Nell pouted her lips. “You’re the one who didn’t protect me, why are you angry?”
The man’s eyebrows twitched.
After a while, he replied sullenly, “I was wrong for letting you wait there alone, but you shouldn’t insist on helping him.”
Nell swallowed a choke.
She explained to him patiently, “His skills are very good. You see, even though he was so severely injured, I couldn’t fight him off at all. Aren’t you curious to find out who this person is?”
Gideon gnawed at his lip and glanced at the reflection of the man lying on the backseat in his rearview mirror.
His slightly open shirt collar was drenched in blood. Gideon narrowed his eyes.
“Gideon, let’s help him, okay? Please?”
He swept his gaze on her face with a dark expression.
“Are you begging me for the sake of another man?”
Nell was struck speechless.
“What are you thinking about? I just think that this person is quite mysterious, so I want to know more about him.”
He glanced at her. “Know more about him?”
“Yup.”
Nell bobbed her head up and down like a little chick pecking at rice, afraid that he would not believe her.
“Hmph!” Gideon sneered.
He did not say anything, but the entire car plunged into a tense atmosphere. It was obvious that Gideon was unhappy.
Nell puffed up her cheeks.
This guy… Why is he so angry for no reason?
After a while, she thought of something. Stealing a glance at him, she suddenly leaned in and kissed him on the face.
Gideon’s face was unyielding.
She then curled her lips and kissed him on the mouth.
Gideon growled at her, “Sit quietly! Don’t move.”
“Nope, I’m going to kiss you.”
She leaned in again, but he pressed down on her body, forcing her to remain seated.
Nell was locked into place by Gideon, so she puffed her cheeks in dissatisfaction. Annoyed, she said, “What is wrong with you? Why are you angry all of a sudden, and refuse to tell me the reason? How can I guess what’s in your head?”
The man raised an eyebrow. In the corner of his eye, he could see her angrily puffed cheeks and a sliver of laughter flashed across his eyes.
However, he still did not speak. He tightened his grasp on her hand, and soon they were back at Fengqiao Villa.
Nell got out of the car, and Gideon followed suit.
She opened the rear passenger door and saw that the man on the backseat had fallen unconscious, hence she nudged his shoulder. “Hey, wake up!”
The man did not respond.
Nell frowned. She turned around and told Gideon, “He’s unconscious. It’s not safe to leave him somewhere else. Why don’t we bring him inside…”
This time, Gideon did not object.
He carried the man out of the car to the villa door, opened the door, and brought him inside.
Nell quickly went to boil some water. Since it was near the Spring Festival and the two of them often stayed at the old residence, there was no use keeping the servants in an empty house. Therefore, the servants have been given a break to go back to their hometowns for the new year.
Due to this reason, this house was completely empty except for Gideon and Nell.
Fortunately, although there was no one around, the ordinary medical necessities were fully stocked.
After Nell had retrieved the first-aid kit, she wrung a wet towel and began to wipe the blood away from the stranger’s face.
A thin, pale face gradually emerged.
It was quite a proper and handsome face. His eyebrows were well-arched like distant peaks, his nose was high and his lips were thin. Even though he was unconscious, his person gave off a gentle and refined aura.
