Spoiled by the President novel Chapter 49

Janet froze.

She wanted to say, ‘It wasn’t me who made the bet!’

That said, Nell was her good sister, after all. Nell was considerate of her and wanted to set her up with Liam.

Besides, Janet had also stood out earlier when the bet was made, so she could not go back on her word.

She tucked her hair behind her ears and cleared her throat.

“Uhm… I wasn’t running away! I j-just came to get something. Yes, I came to get something.”

She even repeated herself to confirm what she said.

Liam sneered in disdain.

Since the door was already unlocked, he opened the door and sat in the passenger’s seat.

Janet was baffled.

Seeing as she was still standing there in a daze, Liam stared coldly at her and asked impatiently, “Why are you still standing there? Aren’t we going to eat?”

Janet. “...”

“Oh,” she responded as soon as she regained her senses. Nonetheless, just as Janet wanted to enter the car, she remembered that the car belonged to Nell; she did not drive here.

If she drove the car away, how would Nell go home?

Therefore, Janet could only ask softly as she looked at the man, who was going to rest with his eyes closed in the passenger’s seat, “Uhm… This isn’t my car, so can we take your car instead?”

Liam. “...”

‘F*ck!’

Nell received a call from Janet not long after.

Janet told her that she had to leave first and that she left the keys with the security guard at the parking lot, then she hung up.

Nell initially wanted to ask if Janet wanted to wait for Liam so that he could fulfill his promise, but Janet hung up so quickly that she could not say it in time.

However, she later heard that Liam left right after the competition ended, and she realized the timing matched, so she immediately figured out what happened.

Hence, Nell did not disturb Janet. She went to get her car after she set a specific appointment time with Gareth, then she left.

It was already 10:00 pm by the time she got home.

Surprisingly, Gideon was not home.

Considering how Gideon drove to her company to pick her up when she forgot to inform him about having to work overtime, Nell sent him a text in advance.

Who knew, she was not the only one who arrived home late; Gideon was not home yet.

Nell looked for Aunt Joyce, who explained to her with a smile, “Sir called home during dinner time to say that he has an important transoceanic meeting to attend at his company, so he won’t be back so early.”

The young lady then nodded.

Without saying anything else, she made her way upstairs.

After the tiring day, Nell wanted to take a shower and rest.

She entered the bathroom with her pajamas.

On the other side, Janet and Liam arrived at a restaurant.

It was an open-air candlelight restaurant.

The restaurant was situated on the second floor, where customers were greeted with a bright moon and a cool breeze, as well as a vast river in the distance. The area was decorated with romantic candlelights, and an elegant cellist was seen playing a melodious and graceful piece on a small stage.

If Janet ignored the cold-looking man in front of her, the restaurant was indeed the most suitable place for a romantic date.

When the waiter served them their food, Janet thanked him softly.

At the restaurant, she no longer fully disguised herself. She removed the mask but was still wearing the cap.

The cap’s wide brim covered Janet’s eyes, leaving the bottom half of her straight nose and her tender lips exposed. When she lifted her defined chin a little, without the need to say a word, she looked noble and sophisticated, as if she was above all beings.

Liam’s eyes were dark and hollow, and a hint of coldness could be seen deep inside them.

From the racetrack to the restaurant, Janet had slowly calmed down from being nervous.

Even so, she felt uneasy.
