The butler immediately responded, “Yes, Young Master.”
After listening to the butler update him, Joel breathed a sigh of relief. After all, he had demanded justice for Lucy.
The butler stood respectfully in front of Joel and asked, “Young Master, is anything else that you need me to do?”
Joel waved his hand. Since there was nothing else for him, the butler bowed and left. After all, he also knew that the young master would not want any disturbance from anyone. Furthermore, he smelled of alcohol and was already stumbling around. Therefore, it was already commendable that he could talk with the butler about this matter.
In fact, Joel had been hiding all these from Lucy because he knew if she knew about it, she would not have agreed to it. She had always been the easygoing type and never thought about revenge.
However, Joel would not bear to see the woman he liked to be bullied by others, so he secretly sent people to deal with Astrid.
A hiss escaped from him.
Joel really could not sit up straight anymore, hence he slumped on the sofa. Did he not intend to forget about everything with alcohol? Why was he still thinking about Lucy now that he was almost drunk?
As the saying went, ‘Problems are magnified when you try to get rid of it with alcohol.’
Joel just could not understand why Lucy ignored him since he was so good to her.
At that moment, Lucy was notified by the doctor that she could go home.
Mace was there when the doctor notified her. He said, “Since it’s so late now, I’ll send you home.”
After that, he packed Lucy’s things and prepared to send her home.
Lucy immediately got up when she saw that.
“I can go home by myself. It’s really troublesome for you since it’s already so late.”
Although she and Mace were still married, both of them were just putting on a show and were not really together. Therefore, it was not polite of her to trouble him.
Unexpectedly, Mace smiled at her and packed everything together as he said with a smile, “It’s okay. You’ve just recovered and it’s cold at night, so I’ll send you home since it’s going to give me peace of mind.”
Moreover, since he was already there, he would insist on sending her no matter how much she refused him.
Lucy frowned and said subconsciously, “No worries, I’ve told Carina—”
“Carina’s a girl too. It’s not safe for her to be out so late at night,” Mace interrupted her.
Since she could not reject him any further, she agreed, “Okay then.”
Lucy and Mace walked to the entrance of the hospital.
It was a really cold and windy night. She felt that it was better to have Mace send her home since she had just recovered because it would be troublesome if she caught a cold.
The car stopped in front of her, and Mace got down to open the door for her. He said gently, “Get in.”
