Lucy understood Mace’s concerns, so she told him to continue driving.
Realizing that she refused to say anything, Mace shook his head and resumed driving.
“I don’t believe that you’ll be able to sleep peacefully once you’ve seen these photos.” By now, Jada felt smug and was eager to see what unfolded next.
Both she and Lucy belonged to the same company. Although she never expected that she would cross paths with Lucy, they were still close and she was aware of the other party’s temperament.
Thus, she took advantage of Lucy’s jealous nature and lack of confidence. Judging by Lucy’s personality, she would be suspicious after seeing the photos.
In that case, there was much to be observed.
As expected, Lucy was in a bad mood. The photos that Jada sent to her had ruined her entire day.
Initially, she was somewhat certain about what Joel had said to her that day. Gradually, she even began to accept him. Furthermore, she had given it a thorough consideration. The next time they met, she must tell him how she felt about him and promise to be with him.
Nonetheless, when she nurtured such an idea, this incident occurred.
Lucy’s heart crumbled. She was not sure whether her feelings were jealousy or something else.
However, she knew that when she saw those photos, she had lost whatever positive feelings she had for Joel. As such, she did not understand how Joel could turn out to be such a person.
Did he want to have his cake and eat it too? Did sincerity mean nothing to him?
Soon, she felt upset.
At the same time, Mace stopped the car at the traffic lights. He noticed something amiss with Lucy’s expression from the rearview mirror. “What’s the matter?”
“Nothing, nothing.”
If she told Mace that she felt this way because of Joel, it would be one hell of an embarrassment. Therefore, she told herself that she must not reveal this matter to him.
Sigh…
Deep down, Mace sighed.
Today, he had a nagging feeling that Lucy was acting strangely, but she did not want to tell him what the matter was, much to his puzzlement.
“Fine, I don’t know what’s the matter with you. If there’s anything on your mind, just share it with me. We’re good friends after all! Do you even regard me as your friend if you keep your problems to yourself?” Mace was concerned about her, so he wanted her to get everything off her chest so that she could feel better.
Lucy kept her head lowered. “There’s nothing wrong with me. Perhaps, I still haven’t recovered fully from my previous injury and I’m still shaken by it.”
However, she chose to deflect his inquisitive questions again.
“Alright, you must tell me if there’s anything wrong. Don’t keep everything to yourself.”
Anybody could see that Lucy was troubled, yet she told herself repeatedly that everything was fine.
