Lucy immediately blushed because of Joel’s words.
She fumbled for words and averted her gaze. It was obvious that she was flustered.
Joel continued, “Call me that once and it’d be the thanks I receive from you.”
The man's seductive voice stirred Lucy’s heart to thump all over the place like a booted fawn.
Embarrassed, she said, “You can’t just tell me to address you like that out of the blue. It’s rather awkward...”
To her surprise, Joel cried out loud before she could finish. “Wifey.”
Lucy, “...”
Joel stared at her with full of grievance. “Look, I can do it. Are you falling out of love with me since you’re unwilling to call me that? Tell me, did you fall in love with someone else?”
While speaking, he extended his arm to tickle her.
God knew that Lucy was most afraid of tickles.
She burst into giggles the moment Joel laid his hands on her.
Lucy put up a fight amid chuckles and tried to scramble out of his embrace but the man locked her tight in his arms. There was no way she could escape.
Joel wickedly grinned. “Are you going to do it? Are you?”
Lucy replied, “Hahahahahaha... Stop tickling me... It’s so ticklish... Hahahaha...”
She was almost in tears from the laughter but Joel refused to let her off the hook that easy.
With his hands still going for her weak spots, he said, “Say it and I’ll stop tickling you.”
Left with no choice, Lucy could only beg for mercy.
“Okay... Okay... I’ll say it. Please don’t tickle me, hahaha...”
Joel immediately stopped it.
Lucy wiped away her tears, caught in a moment not knowing whether to laugh or cry.
“What are you doing? How can you intimidate me like this?”
Joel softly scoffed instead, not getting the idea that he had done something wrong.
“Well, you’re the one refusing to say it. Wifey, I am my pride too and I feel defeated by you. Can’t you satisfy your husband's wish even if it’s just calling me hubby once?”
Others might not be able to bear mushy words, let alone Lucy who shuddered at the mention.
She let out a cough before putting on a straight face. “It’s awkward to say it at such an occasion. I can’t do it.”
Joel dangerously squinted his eyes.
“So you want to do it on a different occasion?
Seeing that he misunderstood what she meant, Lucy waved her arm.
“No, no, I mean...”
She gave a dry laugh and an excuse that was unconvincing even to her. “I think it’s best to go with the flow when it comes to this.”
Joel’s laughter turned colder.
“I don’t like to go with the flow, I’d like it if you call me that now.”
Lucy, “...”
She felt a headache coming.
If possible, she wanted to publish a post online.
“Clingy husband is forcing me to call him ‘Hubby’, what do I do? Urgently waiting online!”
However, she currently did not have the chance to do so.
In the end, she gave in to the pressure and unwillingly squeezed the word out of her mouth.
“Hub...by.”
It did not sound like she was calling for her husband, but rather her enemy judging by the tone of her voice.
Joel felt a chill going down his spine.
Taking a gulp, he gathered the courage to request. “Can it be just a little milder, a little more gentle?”
