Spoiled by the President novel Chapter 716

Nell had no idea what he was trying to convey with that gaze.

She racked her brain and could not think of a time that she had made an absurd request. It confounded her as to where the mockery might have come from.

Her sense of uneasiness was growing stronger and stronger.

On top of that, she still had no leads on the identity of the people who had tried to assassinate them on the plane yet.

An assassin in hiding, and a strangely antiquated village. That was not counting these villagers with mystifying intentions.

This whole thing made her body tense, and there was no way she could relax.

The good thing was that it seemed like this man was true to his words.

He promised to take her to see the legendary “Fred,” and they really did go there.

Fred was at the village chief’s house, so they made their way there without having dinner.

The village chief’s house was not far from where they were. They arrived at the house after about 20 minutes of walking.

They could see a large clay house in the distance before they went through the door. It was brightly lit.

There was a huge fire outside the house, and a few tables were arranged beside it. Every spot around the tables was occupied. It was obvious that a banquet was happening.

The attendants of the banquet raised their hands up to call for him right away when they saw the man approaching.

“Hey, Max is here!”

The man made a sound of acknowledgment and led Nell to a middle-aged man with tan skin and black hair. He looked a little overweight and had a few strands of white hair on his head.

“Here’s Fred.”

With that, he proceeded to introduce Nell to the man named Fred. “This is the lady my wife picked up the other day, She said she wants to find her friend. What do you say?”

Fred gave her a once-over that lasted longer than it should. He seemed impressed by what he was looking at.

“Oh, it’s you. Nancy is your friend?”

Nell nodded quickly.

Fred grinned and waved his hand. “Don’t you worry. She’s fine. Do you want to see her?”

Nell replied instantly, “Yes. Can you take me to her?”

The man stroked his chin. “I can do that, but we’ll have to blindfold you if you want to follow me. You should know that there’s an area not far from here that is always rife with wars. We had enough of it and found a piece of peaceful and secluded land to live. We don’t wish to attract any kind of strife back there. That’s why we don’t allow any strangers into our land.

“But I’ll concede since you two ladies seem weak. Your eyes still need to be covered though. If we don’t do that, who’s to say that you won’t expose our location once you get out of here? Our peaceful days will be over if that happens.”

Nell listened as he spoke with a thick country accent. She nodded vehemently after just a moment of hesitation.

“Okay. I agree.”

Fred’s smile grew wider at once upon Nell’s agreement.

“Then it’s settled. You can have your dinner here. Once you’re done you can leave with us. I have to go home tonight, so I can take you with me.”

Nell frowned as she was a little confused. “If we’re traveling at night, I don’t think it’s convenient for you to blindfold me.”

“It’s fine.”

Fred waved his hand absentmindedly to dismiss her concern. “I’ve brought my oxcart with me. You can sit in it. There’s no need to walk. We’ll be there in an hour or two. It’s really convenient.”

Nell nodded at his words.
