Spoiled by the President novel Chapter 723

Nell had her laugh and stopped. She said, "Do you really think that we can escape just by defeating that old couple downstairs?"

Nancy blinked, and it was clear that this was what she had thought.

Nell shook her head.

"No, you're wrong. Even if we defeated them and restrained them with ropes at this house so that they have no way of coming after us, we still wouldn't be able to escape."

"Why not?"

After she thought about it, Nell felt that it was not easy to explain such a thing, so she told Nancy about how Aunt Flora had instructed those children to pester her when she was originally in Flos Village.

"Do you see it now? Although we’re now in the hands of Uncle Fred, in reality, this entire village, and even a few nearby villages, are one and the same.

"If we go missing, once Uncle Fred and the others run out and shout, everyone from several nearby villages will come out together to help them chase us down.

"You’re capable of defeating Fred and Karen, but what about tens or hundreds of them? Even if you did, this is complicated terrain. We don't even know how to get out. What if we just get further off course? We can't die of hunger and thirst, can we?"

Nancy pondered and thought it made sense.

She sighed.

"But I still feel that waiting for another month is too long, and I always feel uneasy when the nights are long."

Nell knew that Nancy’s worries were not unreasonable.

Although she had heard Uncle Fred and the man say that they would wait another month, in reality, no one knew if they would do so in the end.

Now that they were meat on a cutting board and there were so many variables in between, naturally, it would be best if they could leave sooner.

When Nell thought of it this way, she did not stick to her previous statement.

Instead, she changed her attitude and said, "We’ll see how it goes then. We’ll see when the opportunity is right. Anyway, we can’t be reckless. Let’s just go with the flow."

Only then did Nancy nod her head.

After they had discussed it, they did not continue on this topic.

As usual, they helped Aunt Karen with cooking and other things at noon. Uncle Fred had gone out to do something and was not home for lunch.

Nell and Nancy finally had a chance to be alone with Aunt Karen, and they suddenly remembered their unfinished conversation from the previous day.

A day before, as the 3 of them were chatting, Uncle Fred came in and interrupted them.

It was Nell who first noticed that something was wrong and gave him a different answer.

Strangely, when she changed answers, Aunt Karen did not point it out.

Through this, Nell figured that Aunt Karen might truly have a backstory.

That day, after they finally got this rare opportunity, Nell asked again, "Aunt Karen, about the question I asked you yesterday, I haven't finished it yet. You mentioned that this red rope is something that none of the girls here can do, so does it mean that you’re not from here?"

Aunt Karen's face changed.

Her eyes flickered slightly.

She seemed like she did not want to answer the question and looked around.

"That...the water’s boiling. I'll go and wash the rice."

As she said that, she walked off to the side.

Nell and Nancy looked at each other. Both of them exchanged glances and knew what each other meant.

They were not going to let her go just like that, so after she finished washing the rice and put it into the pot, they continued, "Aunt Karen, you're not from here, are you?"

Aunt Karen lowered her head slightly and pressed her lips together.

Nell smiled and said, "It's okay, we're just asking casually. It’s mainly because I saw the breakfast you made in the morning. It's not something the people here are good at, so I thought perhaps you had married from out of town. Where’s your maternal family from?"

Aunt Karen took a deep breath.

Only after a while did she say, "Don't ask. Even if you ask, I won't tell."

After a pause, she continued, "Besides, too much time has passed. I don't remember anymore."

She then turned around and went out.
