Neither did Vickie ever think of herself as a devout person nor did she have the best of tempers. She could suck it up if it were once or twice.
Back at the golf course, Yuliana would not get off her back and had splashed her face with water. Of course, she had returned the deed with a slap to settle the score.
Actually, Yuliana did not get the upper hand.
Nevertheless, Vickie was losing patience towards this difficult character who was sticking to her like a piece of gum. She detested this sort of constant petty strife among women.
Although she was more than capable of taking care of it, Vickie was sick and tired of dealing with it.
Therefore, it was best to get Yuliana for good. She simply needed to just give Yuliana one good scare, and the latter would not dare step on her toes again.
The thought of the incoming peace and quiet left Vickie in a better mood.
Just then, a familiar figure suddenly appeared outside the window.
“Vick, what are you staring blankly at?”
Vickie was dumbstruck for a moment before snapping out of her thoughts.
Once she focused on her line of vision, she noticed Massimo standing outside the window with his hands behind his back. He gazed at her with a smile on his face.
Raising a brow, she asked, “Why are you here?”
“I was bored with nothing to do at home, so I took a stroll.” He then glanced to his left and his right before turning back to suggest, “Do you want to go out for a walk?”
Vickie gave it a quick thought and agreed.
Massimo was not a stranger to her. During the time she was still together with Gregory more than four years ago, she had hung out with his bros and was quite close to them.
As the young master of the Nolan Empire, Massimo was greatly adored by his family. He was a well-known tyrant around this area.
His family were not against his relationship with Gregory. In fact, they encouraged it. Thus, he often came over to have fun with Gregory. Both of them were best pals.
Vickie had no ill feelings towards Massimo. She stepped out of the room and walked on the peddled pathway along the garden with him.
Massimo asked, “Have you clear the air with Gregory?”
Vickie was taken aback as it never crossed her mind that he would ask about this. She smiled faintly. “There’s nothing more to be said between us.”
Massimo pulled a long face. A while later, he sighed and said, “You know how Gregory is. He’s that kind of person. He might speak with a forked tongue but won’t admit his feelings even though he loves you so. He’s too embarrassed to bring it up because he did you wrong then, but we’ve been watching him wear his heart on his sleeve for the past four years. Now that you’re out, he was willing to take you in because he’s still into you. Let bygones be bygones. We should all move on.”
Vickie looked straight ahead. The golden rays traversed across the trees and leaves along the winding path and cast dappled shadows on the ground.
She answered quietly, “You say that he has been feeling guilty for the past four years. Then, why won’t he bail me out of prison?”
Massimo was stunned. The words escaped his lips. “You had...”
“I thought you all knew that I didn’t kill that woman.”
Tilting her head, her gaze fell on him. Her clear eyes were like a profound lake, mirroring a tiny human reflection rather distinctly.
