Nell turned pale.
It was Hayley’s voice.
Godd*mn it!
With the footsteps outside drawing close, threatening to charge in at any moment, Nell swiftly pounced and locked the door with a click.
She then fished out her phone and dialed a number.
“Huh? Why can’t the door be opened?”
“Really? Let me take a look.”
There were sounds of someone turning the doorknob on the other side. As it was locked from the inside, the door could not be opened without a key.
Hayley immediately got the picture.
“Ha! So the b*tch knows. You think a door will stop us? Well, you better think twice!”
With that, she pulled out her phone to make a call.
“Manager Brockman, bring me the key to room 8828. Quit the questions! You don’t have to return to work tomorrow if you dare breath a word out.”
The arrogant voice outside evoked Nell’s memory that the hotel belonged to the Mortons.
She secretly gnashed her teeth.
Godd*mn it!
Of all the hotels she could pick, why did it have to be one owned by the Mortons?
Well, she was not to blame. The venue was chosen by Manager Fernandez. The Morton Corporation had businesses all over Jincheng and, since the properties under them were numerous, it was hard to know if the company belonged to them without counterchecking.
Nell’s only hope was her phone.
While she dialed a number, she chanted in her mind, ‘Pick up! Come on, pick up!’
She thanked her lucky stars that the man never let her down. After four rings, the call was connected.
“Nelly, what’s up?”
“Gideon Leith, save me!”
There was a change in his tone. “What happened?”
“I-I’ve been drugged. I’m in the hotel that I sent to you earlier. Room 8828. Come quick!”
She uttered these words when the door was abruptly pushed open.
As a piercing white light spread over her, Nell closed her eyes and raised her hand to block it out of reflex. The phone by her ear was smacked out of her hand.
“Clack!”
The phone dropped onto the ground.
The man’s eager cries could be heard from the phone. “Nelly! Nelly!”
In less than a second, a foot trampled on the phone, smashing the screen to smithereens.
“Nell Jennings! Who would have thought that you’d wind up in my hands!”
Hayley took strides in with delight.
Behind her were four bodyguards of sturdy build.
Tensing her face, Nell staggered back two steps.
“What are you trying to do?”
Hayley’s face lit up with a wicked grin.
“Of course I’m here to help you. Isn’t it a torturous feeling you’re having? Look how nice I am to you. I understand your needs so I brought along a few men.”
She then put on a straight face and instructed the four bodyguards.
“What are you standing there for? Get over there!”
The four bodyguards answered in unison, “Yes.”
Color drained from Nell’s face as they drew close.
“Hayley Morton, I’ve always thought that you were a little depraved but I didn’t think that you’re this malicious. Aren’t you afraid Gideon Leith will go after you for getting on my bad side?”
Hayley smiled with glee.
“Nell Jennings, do you think you're somebody? Let me tell you, all men have an inherent weakness. Gideon Leith only took a fancy to you because of your looks. He’ll pay you no attention once he realizes that you’re a loose sl*t.
