Nell frowned.
“Nocturne? Isn’t that place a mess? It’s too dangerous for you to go alone, Aunt.”
Jean could not help but roll her eyes.
“How messy can it be? Can’t I bring bodyguards along? Besides, with a family history like ours, what’s there to fear? Who would dare to provoke us?”
As she spoke, she gave Gideon a fawning smile.
Gideon did not object to her going out to have fun. After all, he knew that Jean’s temper could not be restrained.
Thus, he took out a card and handed it to her.
He said with an expressionless face, “Take bodyguards and don’t cause any trouble.”
Jean immediately grinned and nodded. “Okay, got it. Thanks, nephew.”
Only then did Gideon take Nell and the others into the hotel.
Cathy was a little tired after returning to the hotel, so Sean took her back to their room after agreeing to have dinner with Gideon and Nell later.
Nell and Gideon went back to their room too.
As soon as they returned to the room, Nell could not help but complain. “You’re too soft on your aunt. We don’t know this place that well and she likes to cause trouble. If something really happens, what’s the use of just taking a few bodyguards?”
Gideon walked over and hugged her from behind, laughing. “The wife’s words ring true.”
Although that was what he said, his hands were not obedient at all.
He squatted down and held Nell’s thin and soft waist, and placed his ear on her stomach.
“Let me hear. Has my son talked to me today?”
Nell stood there, letting him press against her belly, and laughed. “He isn’t even born yet, how do you know it’s a son?”
Gideon looked up at her. “Of course, I know what I planted.”
Nell was speechless.
What should she do if she wanted to beat up this man?
Gideon listened for a while. No one knew if he heard anything, but in the end, he stood up in satisfaction and assisted Nell to sit down on the sofa by the side.
Nell laughed and joked. “Did you hear what your son said to you?”
Gideon nodded seriously. “Of course I did.”
“What did he tell you?”
Gideon said profoundly, “He said that I’m not at liberty to inform you.”
Nell immediately knew that he did not hear anything at all and was purely amusing her.
She could not help but laugh and punch him.
Gideon did not avoid her, allowing her to hit him however she wanted. In any case, her delicate fist hitting him was nothing more than a tickle — there was no feeling at all.
The two messed around for a while until Nell grew tired, so she lay down on the sofa to rest.
Meanwhile, Gideon went to the side to deal with some documents that Matthew had just sent over which required his attention.
Suddenly, the room was quiet.
The two people did not speak. Gideon sat there and concentrated on his work until he finished everything, and when he looked up, he realized that, at some point, the sky had already turned dark outside.
When he looked at the time on his wristwatch, he saw that it was already 8:00 pm.
Shocked, he could not help but blame himself for being so engrossed that he had forgotten the time.
He quickly stood up from his desk. Perhaps it was because Nell was too tired, or because she had waited too long, but she had already fallen asleep on the sofa.
