Damon had already taken care of about ten elites from the first part of the wave, and some of the other vampire NPCs had taken down five of the elites, leaving behind a little over ten elites on the battleground.
However, now that ten had suddenly become fifty, and the newly arrived back also used divine steeds, a type of mutant elephant which could itself be considered a war machine.
The ground trembled beneath Damon’s feet, with the sheer weight of monstrous footfalls. He turned just in time to see them, a wave of divine steeds thundering into the battlefield, each one towering and plated in blessed silver armor that shimmered with holy enchantments.
Their riders, fifty strong, bore elite-class emblems and shone with radiant auras that screamed of high blessings and faction favor. These were no ordinary reinforcements. These were riding war machines designed to crush strongholds.
Damon’s lips pressed into a hard line. Fifty elites. Ten remaining from before. That was sixty. Sixty enemies now, and the vampire side had barely weathered the first wave.
The NPCs were exhausted, their formations frayed, and everyone was low on mana. Worse, the newly arrived steeds weren’t just all muscles.
Divine steeds also had aura-based suppression fields, especially against dark-aligned races. Just standing near one would reduce a vampire’s magic output by up to 20%, and that was without factoring in the riders’ class abilities.
"They’re not just reinforcements," Damon muttered under his breath. "They’re here to end it." If he could not somehow weather this wave, then they might as well give up on this purge war.
He clenched his fist, blood magic flickering across his knuckles. Could he take all of these elites down in just a couple of minutes before the buffs ran out?
It was impossible! He would only be fighting a losing battle!
And then suddenly, Damon got an idea as he eyed the elephant closest to him with bloodlust. He almost did not think about it, but seeing the giant bodies of blood, how could this idea slip him by.
Other than all of their awesome combat abilities, the huge beasts were also a ridiculous source of blood supply! Even a single one of them could feed dozens of vampires and completely rejuvenate them!
If it were these beasts, then he could definitely think about finishing off the second part of the upgrade blood hall quest!
Damon had already filled his blood archives quite a bit when he faced Bertram and his army, and then again when this purification raid started. Right now, he was at an all-time high in blood supplies. With these fifty divine steeds in play, he just might have enough blood essence to cover it all.
Damon quickly shifted his strategy and once again started targeting the weaklings left and right by activating multiple flame explosions. He was absorbing blood essence from all directions like a maniac.
At the same time, he rushed to the nearest divine steed and shot a crimson lance aiming right for its ass, rumored to be the weakpoint of the big beast.
The divine steed let out a trumpeting bellow that shook the broken ruins, its hind legs buckling as Damon’s crimson lance struck true, embedding deep into the thick muscle.
