Esme could only stare at her, dumbfounded. The only person who treated her with some sincerity in the entire Thomas household was her.
“You bought so many things for me, and they’re all my favorites,” Mrs. Thomas said as she wept.
Esme simply said numbly, “If my mom was like you, I… I wouldn’t have ended up like this.”
Ever since she was little, she had always been scolded by Beth. Saying that she had to be the best. That she had to claw her way out in the world!
That she had to be in the spotlight! That she had to be the apple of everyone’s eyes!
Beth taught her to steal, to be ruthless, to be fake. No one taught her to be compassionate.
Even Fia. Perhaps, she and her mother did once treat her as family. But her mom would always tell her not to lose to Fia. No matter where she would go with her, her mother would always prepare the prettiest clothes for her so that she wouldn’t lose to Fia.
Beth would quietly tell her that Fia was a child without a father. That she couldn’t lose to Fia.
Mrs. Thomas looked at Esme, pained. The days that she spent with her were no mirage… She couldn’t let it go.
“You shouldn’t hurt Britney… She’s such a kind child.” Mrs. Thomas couldn’t cry anymore, and her eyes filled with resentment. “Now, Britney isn’t as close with me anymore. It’s all because of you!”
Esme wanted to say something. Mrs. Thomas was the only one that showed her some kindness. She wanted to catch that kindness.
“I brought everything you bought for me.” Mrs. Thomas couldn’t look at Esme again after that, and she stood up and ran out.
Esme could only sit there with her mind blank. She wasn’t sure how to face it all.
A man in uniform walked in and asked, “Mrs. Thomas brought some things over. What do you want to do with it?”
“Burn it,” Esme said.
“Sure.”
“Wait!” Esme suddenly remembered Hank’s hunched back. “Can you sell it? And give the money to my father?”
The staff frowned. “We’ll give them to your father directly, then.”
“That’s fine, too.” Esme was thinking that it would be good if Hank could sell them and get some money. But in the end, she was fine with him burning or dumping them.
That was the last thing she would do for him. It was up to him whether he would accept it!
On the day of her execution, Silas pushed Conrad to see her.
When Esme saw him, she couldn’t help but cry.
She couldn’t beg and lie to him like she did in the past anymore.

The readers' comments on the novel: Stop It, She’s Remarrying (Fia and Conrad)
I had known that the ending would be like this , I would never had read this book. It didn’t have a right ending at all. Made no sense. Don’t waste your time....
Evil should never win and Lucifer has harmed far to many....
This should not end this way. Fia, rather than following Lucifer’s evil path should reflect and realize that she has always loved Conrad and he has always loved her. Their problems were due to the interference of others, Beryl, Esme etc . Since she is the only one that can approach Lucifer, she and Peter should cooperate with each other, kill Lucifer and evil Beryl, Peter can remove the toxins/ poison from everyone and each will be able to live normal lives without interfering with others relationship's. The children deserve their real father who will love them dearly and provide and protect them with the life they deserve. Gia has been a fool since the beginning and has believed everyone but her beloved husband. Please end this on a good note, that is why we all read these stories, everyone loves a happy ending....
