They placed Paula in an independent building inside the Adams' old house, which could provide Paula enough privacy and
was near enough for Lucia's frequent visits.
The psychiatrist August invited started dealing with Paula's illness quickly. Thanks to the treatment, Paula had finally
calmed down.
Burton was pacing anxiously outside and was seeking every chance to get in, but was stopped by Lucia. "I understand
how you feel now, but you are really not in the right mood to see her now." advised Lucia.
Having been stopped for several times, Burton finally lost his temper. "Mrs. Adams, why can't you let me in? I only want
to see her from far away." bellowed he.
Lucia hadn't expected Burton could be so rude to her, though she fully understood how he felt. She wouldn't blame him
for that, only frowning a little.
"This is the way you treat Mrs. Adams?" As August's solemn voice came from behind, he strode up to Burton and hit him
onto the floor. "Just go inside and worsen her illness if you like."
"Mr. Adams..." Burton muttered. August's strike was so strenuous that Burton's cheek swelled up immediately with some
blood around his mouth. Taking a gasp, he wiped his mouth and got up from the floor swiftly. "Mrs. Adams, I'm sorry
for my rashness." he apologized deferentially.
Lucia forgave him with a fretful wave of the hand. Her was too worried about the treatment of Paula to care about
anything else. The psychiatrist August invited was an expert who had just returned from Amecan. Sophie Capet, that was
her name. A young girl as she was, Sophie was actually an veteran of the trade. August hired her due to Joshua's earnest
recommendation.
Sophie eventually went out of the house with a grim face, when everyone had been waiting for long. After greeting
August and Lucia with a polite nod, she put a solemn expression on her young face. "I need some more time to cure her
illness, as Miss Thomas doesn't seem to allow anyone to touch the scar in her heart." "Is it a tough case?" Lucia rubbed her forehead.
Sophie nodded significantly, "She kept telling me stories of the childhood with her brother. That signifies she chooses to live in the past and is reluctant to face or accept the reality. That is the crux."
August gave Lucia a placatory hug. He couldn't let himself be carried away, for Sophie and he were the only two people
who could maintain the composure now. "How long do you think it will take her to recover?" asked he. Sophie sighed in despair. "We'll have to guide her out of her memory and bring her into the reality first. Further
treatment is only possible when we've tackled that crux."
"Is there anything that we could help?" August kept on asking.
"The presence of someone she cares about could help to bring warmth into her current life and thus encourage her to
accept the reality." answered Sophie.
Her words made everyone turn to Burton instantly. Though trying strenuously to calm himself down, Burton still
couldn't help trembling. "I can't surpass her brother in her heart. I'm afraid I can't make it."
Lucia rushed to him and held him by the overcoat. "But you are the most possible one to bring her hope. She will really be
hopeless if you give up!"
"Mrs. Adams, I..." Burton muttered in agony, "I'm really afraid I can't make it..."
"How can you inspire a patient when you yourself are not strong enough?" Sophie said with her bright eyes and a
friendly grin that bore her lovely front teeth. "And why are you so certain about the failure?"
Her voice pacified Lucia instantly as though with some magic touch, even Burton began to nod with some hesitation.
Squinting at Dr. Capet, August finally understood why Joshua could be so confident about her ability. Quite an expert she
was, wasn't she?

"You guys can get in to visit her now. But don't rush in together. One person or two each time is suggested, and don't disrupt her too frequently. Just make sure she won't hurt herself again." Sophie then decided to leave after smoothing
her bangs casually.
Lucia didn't have any hard feeling towards this Dr. Capet. In fact, she just got on with her like an old friend. Lucia thus
offered, "Please allow August to send you back, Dr. Capet. Just leave Paula to Burton and me."
That was exactly what August was thinking about. He then motioned Sophie to the gate.
"Now you can let me know what you want to say, Mr. Adams," Sophie said cheerfully on the way. "because a figure like
you doesn't offer to be a driver so easily."
August didn't seem surprised. He only responded blandly, "I hope Dr. Capet could visit Paula more often."
"As a visitor or a coach?" Sophie halted and looked at August with a smile, "I understand how you want to protect your
