"Mrs. Adams, a gentleman surnamed Nordhaus is at the front desk downstairs. He wants to see you." The secretary
knocked on the door and reported respectfully.
Mr. Nordhaus? Lucia glanced at the newly finalized bidding plan on the desk and helplessly shook her head. Who else
could it be?
"Bring him to the President's Office."
Soon, the secretary pushed open the door again before Jamie's smirking face came into view. He turned back, his finger
brushing the secretary's chin. His tone was as frivolous as ever.
"Thank you, gorgeous."
The secretary was surprised and then left the office with a flushed face. Lucia couldn't help rolling her eyes.
"Mr. Nordhaus, you've taken over Jevas Group, but your character hasn't changed a bit," she quipped.
"Ouch! Don't mention that to me. It gives me a headache." Jamie roughly sat down on the couch and habitually put his
foot on the coffee table.
"Put your foot down," Lucia snapped with a frown.
Startled, Jamie looked at her incredulously and then realized that she was just bluffing. Despite his reluctance, he put his
foot back on the floor.
"You're aggressive after you become Mrs. Adams. That really scared me."
"Not everyone is as derelict as you. August is obsessive about cleanliness. If he learned about your behavior here, he
would definitely break your leg." She glared at him with feigned fierceness.
Feeling helpless, Jamie raised his hands to surrender and smirked, "I'm here to deliver money. Are you going to take it or
not?"
"Why not? Show me the money!" Lucia picked up the finalized contract and threw it to him, "I've been waiting for you to
come."
"Seriously? I'm the owner of the project. This feels like I'm begging you for cooperation." He pouted.
Lucia arched her brow and showed a knowing look. Jamie's father was invited to their wedding when August and she got
married. He envied them so much and decided to get his son back on the right track as soon as he returned home. In the
next week, he did a series of surprising things such as resigning and deciding on a marriage of convenience.
A confused Jamie was pushed to the front. Unwilling to be bound by this kind of marriage, Jamie openly defied his father. By focusing on his career, he could temporarily avoid his date. Now, he was badly in need of accomplishments to avoid
stepping into the tomb of marriage.
"Why if Miss Jackalin is gentle, virtuous, kind-hearted, and elegant? Are you sure you don't want to give it a try?" she
asked curiously.
"Among the features you mentioned, which one do you think I like?" Jamie showed a disdainful look, "Every single one of
them is terrifying. Combined, it's a disaster."
Lucia nodded. That was true. None of these features suited Jamie. If he married this kind of woman, he would bully her
for sure. What he needed was a tough wife who would make him suffer.
Jamie caught the slyness in her eyes, looked up to the sky, and sighed, "Married women are scary. I can tell that from
you."
Something suddenly occurred to her, and a smile appeared in her limpid eyes. "I know a lot of tycoons. Do you need me to
ask them about your fiancée?"
"I'm fine!" Jamie immediately waved his hand, his pretty face contorting, "Just don't add insult to injury. You're
horrible."
Lucia pulled a long face and pretended to punch him. He immediately picked up the pen and signed the contract. Their

new partnership was then established on such an informal occasion.
"This is profitable. Aren't you going to buy me a drink in return tonight?" He handed the contract to her and leaned over
with an expectant look.
Lucia pushed all the documents to the front and pouted. "Do you think I have time for that?"
"Oh..." he playfully dragged his voice and casually put her hands in his pant pockets, "this might be the last time we
work together."
Lucia paused from marking the document, squinted at him, and said in a teasing tone, "Okay, I'll drink with you." Jamie smugly arched his brow. "I'll see myself out."
She hummed, looked at him, and muttered to herself, "I'm interested in meeting a genteel and virtuous girl like Miss
Jackalin though."
