Bailey pursed her lips.
If she was expected to give a definite answer, she couldn't provide it.
After all, this method was only recorded in the Yablon family's Encyclopedia of Poison. Although the ancestors of the Yablon family had used that method, she didn't know the specific details.
“Cath, I don't want to exaggerate, nor do I want to deceive myself and others because I'm not entirely confident either. However, this method was derived from blending the principles in the Fragrance Journal and Encyclopedia of Poison, so I believe it should still be effective. Even if it doesn't work, we have no other way to save her. Let's just pray for the child's safety.”
Catherine bit her lip. She was just about to say something when footsteps echoed from outside.
Bailey lowered her voice and said, “Simon has brought Eunice with him. If you don't want that woman to see your lack of confidence, then be a bit more self-assured. If she learns that you're not confident, she'll laugh wildly with joy. Letting her gloat is like causing pain to our loved ones and allowing our enemies to be happy.”
Catherine was a perceptive person. Upon hearing Bailey's words, she immediately wiped the worried and fearful expression on her face. Bailey is right. Even if this method doesn't work, we still have to give it a try because, right now, this is the only option they have.
Simon signaled for two bodyguards to usher Eunice in.
The anesthesia within her hadn't completely worn off, so she appeared to be quite limp.
But even so, her eyes were still filled with hatred.
She looked at them with a gaze filled with bitter resentment as if she wished she could flay them alive and tear them to pieces.
Bailey was used to such looks, so she was unfazed.
Catherine was focused only on Luna. She would be willing to take on the whole world to save her daughter at that moment.
A woman was naturally gentle but became strong when she became a mother.
Therefore, they turned a blind eye to Eunice's hateful looks.
Not to mention, Eunice brought it upon herself.
The parasite king was transferred from her to Catherine's body, and then through the placenta, it moved to Luna.
The reason she ended up sleeping with Simon years ago was also because of Eunice's scheming.
When all was said and done, the hardships Catherine and Luna had endured over the years were all thanks to Eunice.
Now, Eunice was just having a taste of her own medicine. Even if she were to be gnawed to death by the parasites, it would serve her right. She had no one else to blame.
Bailey ignored her, unscrewed the bottle, and poured the poisonous powder into Luna's mouth.
A moment later, Luna's body began to convulse violently, her electrocardiogram readings flickering on and off intermittently.
The hearts of everyone in the room leaped into their throats.
The corridor outside was also filled with people. Maxton and his two siblings, Zeke, Juliana, and Artemis were all waiting at the door.
“Bailey, t-this...” Simon was anxiously pacing nearby.
Catherine glared at him, snapping, “If you can't handle it, then get out. Don't stand here and get in the way.”
He finally had a precious daughter, yet she was in such a state. How could he bear that sight?
However, he didn't dare to voice that thought, fearing Catherine might throw him out.
Bailey said, “Cath, check her pulse. Although I understand medicine, I'm not as adept as you are at detecting the movements of the parasite king.”
Catherine nodded, then rushed to the bedside to take Luna's pulse. “T-The parasite king within her is raging. It's as if it wants to burst out of her body.”
A hint of joy appeared on Bailey's face. “The poison is taking effect. The parasite king senses danger and doesn't want to inhabit this body any longer. It was awakened by Eunice's blood. Given the choice now, it would definitely choose Eunice.”
