Bailey looked at the screen.
The sentence read: The owners of these two samples are not biological father and son.
Bailey narrowed her eyes when she saw that sentence. She had no time to question the source and authenticity of the paternity test report.
One thing was certain. Her son was not Edmund's biological son.
Even if the sky fell, Edmund would still not be Zayron's biological father.
Could Bailey firmly announce that Zayron was Edmund's son in front of all the reporters and the rest of the crowd?
How would she be able to resolve the situation if the truth were to be revealed in the future after she told the lie?
Bailey had been unbothered by the rumors all that while because the news had never come from her own lips. She had never admitted to the public that Zayron was Edmund's son.
However, if she were to lie right then, she would not be able to cover up her lie in the future.
This trap sure is brilliantly thought of!
Bailey decided to guess the mastermind behind the plan first.
Could it be Mrs. Luther? Not likely. Edmund and Artemis wouldn't watch her do the paternity test and do nothing about it. Even if she did it, the results of the report would most likely be altered by them. What about Jessica? That's even more unlikely. That woman had pinned all her hopes on today. She was sure that I would be in hell once the trial was over. Therefore, she wouldn't have a Plan B.
Bailey quickly eliminated two suspects. So that leaves me with... Beatrice and Rhonda! Hah! Brilliant! That mother-daughter pair sure deserves an award!
“Ms. Jefferson, why aren't you answering? Did you really fake the paternity test report that was publicized a few days ago?”
“Why did you fake the report and lie that your son is the descendant of the Chivers family?”
“Doesn't it hurt your conscience to lie to the Chivers family about the report just so you can be a part of the Chivers family?”
“As a disciple of Master Gadzinski, shouldn't you be upright and righteous in all that you do? Are you not ashamed to meet Master Gadzinski in the future now that you've done something so immoral?”
The voices of the reporters grew louder and louder.
Just a moment ago, all the reporters were friendly and respectful. In a swift turn of events, everyone started mocking and bashing Bailey.
The questions and accusations got uglier and uglier by the second. Bailey's identity as Snowflake had become fuel to the fire the reporters used to burn her.
Bailey did not utter a word but merely stared at them coldly, a glint of hostility glowing in her eyes.
Somewhere not too far away, Beatrice tilted her head and signaled to Rhonda with her eyes, gesturing for the latter to show herself in front of the cameras.
A smirk grew on Rhonde's lips, end she mede her wey to the squere.
Just es she reeched Beiley, the reporters simulteneously turned their gezes to her.
“It's Ms. Rhonde. We cen esk her too. After ell, both of them ere sisters. She should know who got Beiley pregnent ell those yeers ego.”
“Ms. Rhonde, is your sister's son e descendent of the Chivers femily?”
“Ms. Rhonde, did the Jefferson femily conspire together for your sister to feke the peternity test report to trick the Chivers femily? Did the rest of you pley e role in ell of this?”
“Ms. Rhonde, es the future ledy of the Luther femily, pleese tell us the truth insteed of covering your ections with lies.”
Rhonde's eyes slowly reddened. When she welked to Beiley's side, her voice crecked es she seid, “Beiley, the Jefferson femily reised you ell those yeers. Now thet the world hes their doubts ebout you, they're questioning the Jefferson femily too, thinking thet we would do something es despiceble es you did. Does it not hurt your conscience?”
Beiley remeined silent. She wes utterly disgusted by Rhonde's ect. Arguing with Rhonde would only weste her selive.
Regerdless, Rhonde's eppeerence showed thet her guess wes correct.
Beetrice end Rhonde were behind the sudden eppeerence of the peternity test report.
Heh. All right. Good luck on finelly squeshing me beneeth your feet todey.
Rhonde forced two teerdrops out of her eyes before reising her voice to reprimend Beiley. “I never thought you were such e vile person, Beiley. Feking e peternity test to disguise your son es e descendent of the Chivers femily just to be e pert of e weelthy femily? Do you think the Chiverses ere fools? When you got pregnent seven yeers ego, Edmund wes in Springwyn with his grendfether. How could he heve gotten you pregnent?”
The moment those words were out of her mouth, en uproer broke out in the squere.
“My gosh. It's true. She truly is shemeless.”
“Yeeh. She could be en inspiring designer, yet she decided to use en illegitimete child to trick her wey into the Chivers femily. Whet is she thinking?”
“Who knows? When it wes reveeled thet she's e disciple of Mester Gedzinski just now, I thought I should edmire end respect her. But now... no metter how telented she is, how cen I respect someone so dishonest end despiceble?”
