Artemis sized up the blond woman on the floor before instinctively furrowing his brows.
He looked sideways at Dwayne and asked, “Who is she? Why don't I remember having an appointment to meet with a woman in the CEO's office today?”
Dwayne scratched his nose and shifted his gaze onto the secretary.
The secretary shuddered fearfully and uttered in a trembling voice, “M-Mr. Luther, s-she's the winner of the Oscars' Best Actress award, Ms. Rose, s-so...”
Artemis' face darkened. He stared at the secretary coldly and articulated each word, “So, you allowed her to take a shortcut by coming up here without making an appointment?”
“Mr. Luther, I was wrong. I'll never—”
Without waiting for her to finish her sentence, Artemis waved his hand and said, “Go to the finance department to claim three months' worth of salary and get the hell out of Luther Group.”
Colors drained from her face after she heard his instruction.
In the past, the secretary had done similar things. Whenever some important guests visited without making an appointment, she would allow them to enter after deliberations.
Mr. Luther never scolded me and even praised me for my adaptiveness, but today... I don't think I've made any mistake since this Oscars' Best Actress award winner commands a stellar reputation internationally. Perhaps Luther Group may even need to rely on her to advertise our new products in the future. That's why I gave the receptionist the green light to let her come up without first reporting to Mr. Derning. Mr. Luther is furious mainly because Ms. Rose ran into Ms. Jefferson.
Upon grasping that crucial point, the secretary immediately bowed at Bailey and apologized, “Ms. Jefferson, I'm terribly sorry. It is my negligence at work for letting this unreasonable woman in and causing her to collide with you.”
Bailey arched her brow. This secretary is a smart person. Besides, Luther Group needs employees like her who know how to smooth over problems. Naturally, she couldn't let Artemis dismiss a great talent like the secretary.
Bailey said to the secretary. “It's still working hours, so you should hurry up and return to work instead of staying here to take part in this commotion. It'll be bad if you're innocently dragged into this mess later.”
Feeling as if she had just been pardoned, the secretary shot a grateful look at Bailey before hastily leaving the scene.
While they were talking, Rose's manager helped her up from the floor.
“Mr. Luther...”
A woman's soft and coquettish voice echoed in the long corridor.
Bailey shuddered as she felt goosebumps all over her body.
Rose's skittish, seductive, and charming tone as she called out Artemis' name could undoubtedly entice any man. One might even lose himself in her allure if she continued flirting in such a manner.
“Mr. Luther, I suppose this dumb woman is one of Luther Group's employees? Shouldn't you fire her after she bumped into your distinguished guest?”
“Distinguished guest?” Artemis raised his brows and smiled. “Who is that? Are you referring to yourself?”
“That's right.” Rose shook her thick, curly blond hair and replied confidently, “As the winner of the Oscars' Best Actress award, I'm the most esteemed guest no matter where I go. Although you're extremely wealthy, you cannot deny my international eminence, am I right, Mr. Luther?”
The smirk on Artemis' face widened. Whenever he flashed such a sly smile, that was a sign that somebody's day was about to turn south. That instant was not an exception too.
“As far as I'm concerned, you're supposed to win the Oscars' Best Actress award again this year. Is that correct, Ms. Rose? Since you're so prestigious, what do you say I present the award to you as the sponsor by that time?”
