Bailey had just entered Luther Group's lobby when two ladies walked right into her.
“Oh, I'm so sorry, Ms. Morpheus. It's my fault for bumping into you. Something must be wrong with my eyes. Please forgive me.”
A look of hostility flashed in Bailey's eyes as she gazed at the blond-haired woman who had stumbled into her.
It was Rose.
Has this conceited and haughty woman finally learned to be humble after losing at the film festival and embarrassing herself? Alas, it's too late.
“What are you talking about, Ms. Rose? You're at the top of your game in the entertainment industry and a massive international A-lister, so how could I dare to get mad at you? Now that the film festival is over and there's a clear line drawn between us, we have nothing to do with each other anymore.”
With that, Bailey pushed Rose aside and headed toward the elevator.
Rose refused to give up. She grabbed Bailey's arm and wanted to kneel before the latter.
Bailey raised her brows. You should drop the act. Go ahead and kneel if you dare. I won't even bat an eyelid if you do.
Rose had expected Bailey to help her to her feet, thinking the latter would at least show some respect for the company she was signed to, LG Corporation.
The outcome, however, caused her to clench her jaw angrily.
Not only does she show no intention of stopping me, but with that eager gaze, it looks like she's expecting to watch a good show. It's as though she can't wait for me to get to my knees. D*mn it! If I kneel before her today, how will I ever be able to keep a foothold in the entertainment industry? But if I don't, how will I secure the female lead role in “Time Warp”?
She hesitated and struggled over the decision for a long time. In the end, she slowly bent her knees and lowered her head.
I can't let that b*tch, Rainie, get the part. After all, “Time Warp” is a big deal. It has garnered a massive following and is beloved by billions of young people. If Rainie gets the role, she'll definitely shoot to international stardom overnight and overshadow me.
Someone as proud as Rose would never be able to tolerate having the young girl, who she had trampled under her feet for years, get ahead of her.
“I apologize for my recklessness and ignorance. In Aploth, kneeling is the best way of expressing one's sincerity. That's why I'm on my knees, admitting to my mistakes. I hope you can forgive me.”
A hint of surprise flashed across Bailey's eyes.
I never thought that this woman who's as proud as a peacock would really bow and kneel in front of me. It looks like the role of the female protagonist in this new project means a lot to her. Or perhaps it's because she can't bear to see the part go to Rainie.
“There's no need for that, Ms. Rose. You may have offended and bumped into me previously, but I've already slapped you to teach you a lesson. Hence, you don't owe me anything. If there's nothing else, I'll be heading upstairs.”
“Wait!” Rose wrapped her arms around Bailey's thigh, then looked up at the latter and asked anxiously. “My temperament matches that of the heroine in your new work. Could you let me play that role?”
Bailey shot her a sidelong glance, then gave a half-smile. “I'm afraid there's nothing I can do to help you. Cosmos Studios own the film rights now, and they'll be fully in charge of that project. Regardless of whether it's casting or scouting for filming locations, they'll be the one who makes the call. You're good at socializing, aren't you? You could go and approach the studio's upper management.”
Rose instantly looked upset.
Why is she still pulling an attitude even after I've gotten to my knees before her?
“As the author of “Time Warp,” Cosmos Studios will definitely listen to your suggestions. As long as you recommend me for the part, I'm sure to get it.”
Bailey leaned down slightly and slowly reached out to pry Rose's arms from around her leg. Enunciating every word clearly, she said, “Cosmos Studios made a promise before the film festival. Whoever wins the awards for best actor and actress will get to participate in the film. Ms. Rose, you lost because your acting wasn't as good as Ms. Yeanisky's. Hence, there's no use for you to come to me now and beg.”
Looking grim, Rose sprang to her feet and snarled, “In that case, you'll have to face the consequences. I've already groveled before you and begged. What more do you want?”
Bailey sneered. “Did I ever promise to let you have the part of the female protagonist if you kneeled before me?”
