Bailey went to the seaside mansion that night.
She did not sneak into the mansion this time but openly took down the bodyguards outside and entered brazenly.
Meanwhile, Victoria was spacing out in front of the window.
Looking at the skinny and frail figure, Bailey felt a pain in her heart, and tears began to well up in her eyes.
What was Victoria like seven years ago? She was bubbly, active, naive, and lively. Although she disguises herself as an urban professional woman now, she still carries the temperament and pride of the heiress of a prominent family, and her beauty is incomparable. But not even a shadow of her former self remains anymore since the return of Lionel. This woman, played by fate and destroyed by love once before, is beginning to wither now. Can she still return to her old self?
“Bay, you're here.”
Victoria's hoarse voice rang out. Her tone was like that of an elderly, bitter from the vicissitudes of life.
It brought Bailey back to her senses.
She strode over, hugged Victoria from behind, and tried to say in a cheerful tone, “Vicky, I have good news for you.”
Victoria moved her body and turned her head slowly, curling the corners of her stiff lips to squeeze out a forced smile.
“Have you decided to stay in Hallsbay and accept Mr. Luther?”
Bailey shook his head. She leaned forward to rest her head on Victoria's shoulder and said hoarsely, “My child is not dead. He's still alive.”
Alive?
Victoria was momentarily stunned by Bailey's words. Her empty, dull, and unfocused eyes instantly brightened.
She cast Bailey a flabbergasted look and asked with a trembling voice, “Really?”
“Yes.”
Bailey briefly told Victoria about the situation while getting the latter on her feet. “Vicky, even though life is filled with twists and turns, there's always hope as long as we're alive. Isn't that right?”
Victoria's head drooped as she said in a hoarse voice, “Stop persuading me, Bay. When I learned that his wife tried to take her own life because of me, I began to think about things. While it may seem I'm atoning for my sins by staying beside him, what I'm actually doing is destroying his marriage. I can't let myself continue making mistakes. Please get me out of here.”
What? Wendy tried to take her own life? No wonder Vicky decided to leave. It turns out she was shocked by the incident.
Having that thought in mind, Bailey said, “All right. Let's leave this place now and start a new life.”
With that, she took Victoria's hand and headed downstairs briskly. Soon, they walked out of the living room and disappeared into the night.
When Lionel received the news and rushed to the mansion, the place was already empty.
He scanned the bedroom before his gaze landed on the dressing table.
On it was a piece of paper.
He walked over and saw the tiny words: Goodbye forever, Lionel.
From the words, he could sense Victoria's determination when she left.
