In the guest room of Tarragon's branch, Yvette answered a call while leaning against the floor-to-ceiling windows.
“Who exactly is the leader, Mr. Doyle? He wore a mask, so I couldn't see his face at all. He probably won't be coming to the branch anymore, will he? How am I to seduce him?”
Upon hearing that, Dominic started laughing heartily.
“Hahaha! It looks like you've been bewitched by him. Well, don't his aura and allure supersede Micah's? It isn't tough for you to marry him, huh?”
Huffing, Yvette couldn't help lamenting, “So what if I'm bewitched? I still can't see him, can I? You might as well save it.”
At that, Dominic's laughter grew in intensity. “Have some patience, for you'll know his identity very soon. There's a cultural relic exhibition in Hallsbay tomorrow. Have Lord Euchler get you a ticket. The leader will be there in person, so take a good look at all the guests and see whether you can recognize him.”
Yvette's hand promptly tightened around the phone. “Okay, I'll go to the exhibition hall tomorrow to have a look. I want to see whether this mysterious leader of ours is really that impressive.”
In the bedroom of the private mansion, Shannon was finally feeling better after lying on the bed for two days.
Seeing that Wendy was holding out a spoon to her, she murmured with a smile, “Just put it on the table, Wendy. I'll drink it myself later.”
Wendy instinctively glanced at Shannon's right arm. On second thought, she found herself too tactless and hurriedly withdrew her gaze.
Alas, that quick look stung Shannon.
Wendy hastily explained, “I'm sorry. I'm not pitying you. I just—”
In response, Shannon chuckled. “It's okay. I'm used to it. I know you're concerned about me.”
Breathing a sigh of relief, Wendy remarked with a wry smile, “I was foolishly intimate with your brother and gave birth to Sebastian, yet I never knew that he had a sister in this world.”
“Wendy.”
Shannon reached out and took the bowl over before turning to place it on the bedside table. Then, she grasped Wendy's wrist and started solemnly, “My brother lost his memories and doesn't remember anything now. Back then, he only accepted the organization's task and approached you to save me. Perhaps he indeed merely wanted to accomplish his task at first when he interacted with you, but I can promise you that he must have fallen in love with you later. I know him all too well. He never would've touched a woman unless of his own volition, much less allowed any possibility of her getting pregnant.”
Shooting a hand out, Wendy pinched her cheek. “You're so kind. Sometimes, God is blinded and does foolish things, but don't worry. One day, he'll see that such a kind girl is suffering in the mortal world. Who knows, your days of pain will end tomorrow.”
Shannon flashed Wendy a smile, the look in her eyes indifferent.
Verily, she had already seen through all earthly matters and the futility of emotions.
“I'm fine. I think I'll be happy as long as your relationship with my brother goes well. Will you forgive him, Wendy?”
