Bailey glared at him, full of stubbornness.
Watching him pry her fingers off one by one, she shouted at the top of her lungs, “Edmund, I won't keep the promise we made in the car if you die now. I wish I lose all my memories after I die and don't meet you in my next life.”
Her words sounded cruel, making Edmund pause momentarily. A dark look flashed across his eyes.
Don't I stand a chance in my next life too? Never mind. I only want her to live well.
“That's fine too. I have loved you all my life, but you never reciprocated my feelings. We shouldn't meet again in our next lives. In this way, I may find the love of my life, have children, and live a peaceful life.”
After saying that, he extended his hand again to pry her fingers off.
Utter despair flashed in Bailey's eyes.
If saying so also can't change his mind, I really can't think of any other way to convince him and save his life.
“Edmund, please don't. Please...”
Ignoring her, Edmund raised his head to look at Artemis and said with a smile, “Take good care of her. Her life is precious, and many have faith in her. If she dies, the world of her family and friends will fall apart too.”
Artemis gave Edmund a thoughtful look.
Even though he didn't want to abandon Edmund to cover for them selfishly, the latter still had a point.
There were still many things Bailey had to do. If she died, everything would be messed up.
“Take care. We will wait for your return.”
Bailey sobbed, “Artemis, don't leave him here. I'm begging you. Don't abandon him.”
Boom!
Suddenly, there was an explosion, splattering snowflakes everywhere.
When Holden dodged, Yvette took the opportunity to break free from his grip and lunged at Bailey.
“You're not getting away that easily. Even if I die, I will bury you together with me. I've fallen for Sofie's trap anyway, and I'll die in your hands, so I better take you down with me before I die.”
Artemis was holding Bailey in his arms, so he couldn't fend off Yvette.
Bailey wanted to retaliate, but her entire body had stiffened, and she couldn't lift her arms as she had been stuck in the snow for so long.
It was precisely because Yvette had noticed her condition that she had lunged forward to grab them tightly and tried to take them to hell.
Holden wanted to hurry over to kick Yvette away to cover Artemis and Bailey so they could escape.
However, everything was chaotic. Aiming his guns in his hands at the suicide attackers who were charging at him gave him no chance to help them out.
Bailey hurriedly said to Artemis, “Put me down. I'm only restricting your movements if you carry me, and we'll be in more danger.”
Artemis hesitated. He glanced at the attackers hiding in the surroundings charging toward them. If I delay this further, no one can escape.
“All right. Stand among the three of us and don't show yourself or even make a sudden move.”
After saying that, he gave Yvette's calf a hard kick.
As Yvette was not as strong as the men, an immense pain shot through her, making her lose her grip.
Having regained freedom, Artemis hurriedly put Bailey down, who trembled slightly before barely finding her balance.
Things were much easier for Edmund and Holden with Artemis' help.
Edmund exclaimed, “The two of you, stop fighting. Hurry and take her away. Those killers have received a kill order and will not give up until they kill you two. If we cannot take on Yvette's men anymore and they knock down our last defense, we will all die.”
“I would rather die here than see you sacrifice your life to save us.”
