Suddenly There Are Three (Bailey and Artemis) novel Chapter 677

Chapter 677 Chased Out Of The Shurmer Family

D*mn it!

Zoey actually admitted that she had instigated Shirley to target Bailey, and she had been trying to sabotage the mother-daughter relationship between Bailey and Waverly. If she had denied it to the end, the Shurmer family wouldn't have been able to do anything to her.

However, after hearing Shirley's words, Zoey lost her composure and accidentally let it slip.

Shirley sneered coldly, “A malicious woman like you deserves underhanded tactics. I know you were kept in the dark and didn't realize that the child I'm carrying isn't the Shurmer family's. Otherwise, you wouldn't have been stupid enough to encourage me to frame Bailey with an abortion and cut off her hope of returning to the Shurmer family. As you said, I was setting a trap for you, and now you've admitted that you instigated me.”

“You...”

Shirley turned abruptly, her gaze falling on Steven and Waverly. She nodded and said, “You both had doubts about the evidence, but she just admitted it herself. There should be no falsehood now. Every piece of incriminating evidence is all laid out before you. What doubts can you possibly have now? As for my attempt to assassinate Bailey, Zoey had also gotten the poison from Rhonda. She went to find Rhonda and got the poison to try to harm your own daughter. Are you really going to let such a malicious person off the hook and downplay the matter?”

Zoey staggered backward, feeling her legs turning numb as she slumped to the floor.

The room was carpeted and heated, but she still felt a bone-chilling cold.

Sofie had fled to some unknown place, leaving her without support. If she were expelled from the Shurmer family, she would die.

With a loud slap, Waverly's palm struck the table as she glared at Zoey, her heart filled with pain and anger. “I don't care if you want to acknowledge your birth mother or plot against Bailey, but you should never have used my hand to suppress her or tried to kill her. To maintain your position as the legitimate daughter of the Shurmer family and avoid ridicule, I've repeatedly kept my own daughter out and prevented her from returning to her own family. What more do you want? Why must you push yourself to this point? Is this how you repay my kindness?”

As if struck by a great shock, Zoey crawled and tumbled to Waverly's feet, reaching out to embrace her legs.

“Mom, I was wrong. I really know my mistake now. Can you give me a chance to repent? For the sake of the years I've been with you, please don't expel me from the house!”

Waverly kicked her away, her eyes filled with rage. “If I forgive you again, it would be cruel to my own daughter. For your sake, I've already hurt my daughter's heart, but you've messed things up, even conspiring with Sofie to try to kill our daughter. How can you have the nerve to ask for my forgiveness? If not for my daughter's good fortune, she would have died at your hands countless times.”

Steven rose to his feet, his words deliberate and weighty. “Tomorrow, I shall convene a press conference and announce your expulsion from the Shurmer family. You are unworthy of the honor bestowed upon a legitimate daughter of the Shurmer lineage, and though my daughter may not covet it, what belongs to her should be returned. As my wife just said, our daughter was fortunate enough not to be killed by your machinations, and to spare you would be akin to hurting her.”

Having spoken, he addressed Sammy, who was nearby, “Summon the authorities and hand over all the evidence to them. After we hold the press conference and expel Zoey, let them punish her accordingly.”

“Yes, Mr. Shurmer.”

Zoey burst into tears and lunged at her father, attempting to cling to his legs. He deftly sidestepped her, leaving her to clutch empty air.

The telephone rang, and Sammy hurried to answer it. Whatever the caller said caused all colors to drain from her face.

“Mr. Shurmer, it's Ms. Sofie Carr. She asks to speak with you.”

At the mention of Sofie, Zoey laughed hysterically.

“It's my mother. My mother has come to save me! You can't send me to prison! Haha, you can't!”

Steven snatched the phone from the butler and demanded, “What trickery are you attempting now, woman? Must I unleash the full power of the Shurmer family to hunt you down before you relent?”

“By all means, come and pursue me. But should I find myself cornered, your daughter will likely suffer the consequences. Oh, and by 'daughter,' I mean your biological daughter.”

Steven's pupils contracted as he gritted his teeth, asking, “What do you mean by that?”

A sinister laugh echoed through the phone. “You must be well aware of who Bailey is, Mr. Shurmer. She is the leader of the Saviors, with countless enemies around the globe. However, this identity is well-guarded, and no one has yet confirmed it. That is why she can walk brazenly in the sunlight. However, should her identity be revealed, do you know the kind of calamity she would face?”

Steven clenched the phone tightly.

He was no fool. As a once formidable force in the business world, how could he not discern the woman's threatening intent?

If Bailey's identity as the leader of the Saviors were exposed, thousands of enemies would hunt her down, resulting in catastrophic consequences.

“Since you remain silent, Mr. Shurmer, I presume that you understand the stakes clearly. It just so happens that I possess evidence that proves Bailey is the leader of the Saviors. I propose an exchange—this evidence for my daughter's freedom. What say you?”

Slowly, Steven closed his eyes.

If that madwoman caused an uproar, Bailey would be plunged into grave danger.

“Very well. I agree to spare her, but you must also hand over the evidence in your possession.”

“Naturally, I understand the principle of a fair exchange. Tomorrow night at eight, meet me with my daughter on the secluded path in the eastern suburbs. I will give you the evidence there. Remember, don't tell anyone, especially your son or Bailey. Otherwise, I will expose Bailey's identity immediately,” Sofie warned.

Clenching his teeth tightly, Steven hesitated for a moment before acquiescing. “Very well; it is settled.”

Upon ending the call, he saw Zoey laughing wildly and unabashedly, and he couldn’t help but shake his head.

This girl has always disguised herself with an air of innocence, but this monstrous demeanor is her true nature all along.

Wicked roots were wicked roots, and even within the Shurmer family's deeply-rooted and illustrious traditions, they could not change the malevolence within her.

“Sammy, lock her in the secret chamber.”

Sammy complied, motioning for servants to grasp Zoey's arms and drag her away.

Zoey began to laugh manically.

She was certain that Sofie must have blackmailed Steven, which was why he agreed to let her go.

If that was the case, what did she have to fear?

“I've reduced your daughter to such a state, and you all can't even muster the courage to protest. How pitiful,” Zoey mocked.
