Chapter 803 Destroyed Face
Astrid looked at him with a face full of astonishment. “M-Mr. Tucker, I don't understand. Mr. Carter is searching for Caridee, not me. How can I-I possibly take her place?”
No, I refuse to join Shaun's side. He has become insane.
Ever since he lost his virility, he has become incredibly gloomy, sinking his teeth into anyone he catches. Therefore, if she were to end up in his grasp, her life would become a living hell.
“Mr. Tucker, wait. Mr. Tucker, please allow me to find an alternative solution. I am confident that I can find a way to capture Caridee. I will not disappoint you.”
Tucker sneered after hearing her words.
“Veikko has already intervened and rescued her. He will either return her to the Luther family or deliver her to Bailey. Do you honestly believe you have the power to snatch someone away from either the Luther family or Bailey?”
Angie's voice trembled as she pleaded, “Please, don't make me face Mr. Carter's wrath instead of Caridee! He wants Caridee, not me. Sending me in her place will only enrage him further.”
Tucker reached out to grab and lifted her from the couch. He then softly cupped her cheek and said, “It's simple. We'll just have to change your appearance, and everything will be alright.”
Angie's expression turned desperate, and she vigorously shook her head.
“No, Mr. Tucker, please, no. My father has always been the most loyal servant under your command. You can't treat me this way.”
I refuse to transform into Caridee. If I do, Shaun will torment me until I die.
Tucker's grip tightened on her chin as he sneered coldly, his words dripping with malice.
“Whether you like it or not, it doesn't matter. If it satisfies Shaun and serves his purpose, any sacrifice is justified. You better prepare for plastic surgery. I'll arrange for the best cosmetic team in the world, and within five days, they will completely transform your appearance. Otherwise... I'll make sure your life becomes a never-ending nightmare.”
Filled with immense fear, Angie's eyes widened as she swiftly broke free from Tucker's grip and made a desperate dash toward the door. Tucker, standing in place, instructed the bodyguards stationed outside,
“Halt her and ensure she is brought back here.”
Shortly after, Angie was forcefully restrained and brought back to Tucker's presence. Tucker callously grabbed a fruit knife from the nearby table and mercilessly made several cuts on Angie's delicate face.
“Ah...”
A piercing scream echoed through the room as Angie collapsed to the ground. She clutched her wounded face, crying out in pain and despair.
“My face, my face...”
With a sinister smile on his face, Tucker looked down at Angie.
He taunted her, “Now that your face is ruined, I hope you've learned your lesson. Go get plastic surgery and remember to behave. If you continue to resist, I will carve more scars onto your face, transforming you into a grotesque monster. If you wish to avoid such torment, obey my commands.”
Angie's cries of pain echoed through the room, tears streaming uncontrollably down her face. At that moment, Angie's heart was consumed by an intense hatred toward Caridee.
It's all because of that vile woman. She instigated Shaun, and now I'm the one left to bear the consequences. I despise her immensely, with every fiber of my being.
If given the opportunity, Angie would certainly end Caridee's life and tear the latter's body into a thousand pieces.
Tucker observed that Angie had ceased her resistance and instructed the bodyguard at the door, “Take her away and deliver her to Jason. Let him transform her into a new Ms. Caridee of the Luther family within five days.”
“Okay.”
At the Revelle residence in Hallsbay, the Revelle family arranged a wake following the announcement of Veronique's passing from cancer.
Since they were going to stage a performance, they would see it through to the end. Since they had already made the public announcement of their daughter's death, they didn't feel hesitant about setting up the wake.
After the news of Veronique's passing became known, a steady stream of people began arriving at the Revelle residence to offer their condolences.
In the side hall, Yvonne and Bill were graciously receiving and attending to the guests. Bill skillfully portrayed the grieving father, his appearance reflecting the weight of sorrow and the toll it had taken on him.
The guests, observing his visibly aged and distraught demeanor, found no reason to doubt the suddenness of Veronique's passing.
“Mr. Revelle, Ms. Yvonne, Mr. Shurmer has arrived, and she's brought Ms. Fletcher with her.”
Bill's expression turned grave, and he spoke with authority.
“Please inform them we request them to leave as the Revelle family does not welcome them.”
As the housekeeper was about to leave, Yvonne quickly intervened and addressed her father, “Father, we must remember that everyone who has come to offer their condolences is a guest. It would be impolite to turn them away at the door. Moreover, we must consider Zephyr's future. He will depend on Ms. Fletcher, his stepmother, going forward. If we create any embarrassment or hostility now, she may take it out on the child tenfold or even a hundredfold in the future.”
“I dare her to do that.”
“Why wouldn't she dare? She is Lady Scarlett. Once she marries into the Xuereb family, she will become the lady of the house. Zephyr is a descendant of the Xuereb family. If he were to be scolded and mistreated by Ms. Fletcher, no one would dare to speak up.”
Bill maintained his silence, his expression stern and unreadable, as he contemplated the implications of Yvonne's words. Yvonne turned to the housekeeper and instructed, “Please invite them inside.”
“Okay.”
A moment later, Olivia entered the room while assisting Scarlett.
“Ah, Lettie, take it slow. You're carrying a child in your womb, be cautious not to bump into anything.”
Olivia intentionally raised her voice, uttering explicit words with the intention of provoking Bill. Bill, however, was not easily provoked.
He couldn't help but chuckle, responding sarcastically, “Seems like even illegitimate children have become fashionable these days. I am amazed that it can be openly acknowledged and all.”
Olivia struggled to come up with something to refute him after that.
“You...”
Meanwhile, a hint of displeasure flashed across Scarlett's face.
Everyone was aware of Scarlett's situation, carrying an illegitimate child, but out of respect for the Fletcher family's reputation, no one dared to expose the truth and breach the delicate facade.
The lack of refinement displayed by the elder of the Revelle family is truly astounding.
“Mr. Revelle, your accusations carry great weight. Justin has made a promise to marry me, and when our child is born, he will be the rightful heir. Naturally, the grandson of the Revelle family is the legitimate son of the Xuereb family as well. I assure you, I will take good care of him. I kindly request you, Mr. Revelle, to choose your words wisely,” Scarlett retorted firmly. Bill sneered after hearing those words.
“No need to put on a facade of virtue and motherhood when there are no outsiders around. I must say, the Fletcher family must be deeply disappointed to have raised such a shameless daughter like you. And to think you're a prominent socialite! With your current behavior, you might even influence other innocent young women in a corrupt manner.”
After hearing those words, Scarlett struggled to maintain her composure, and her gentle and dignified facade was starting to crack, revealing a subtle distortion in her facial features.
“Where's Justin? I'd like to meet him.”
Bill's sinister laughter echoed through the room as he responded, “He's waiting for you in the wake. Speaking of which, my daughter has been eager to meet all of you as well. She visited me in a dream last night, expressing her gratitude for your presence on her final journey. She even asked me to give you a call. I never imagined you would show up on your own accord. So, go ahead, bid your farewells to her. They say those with unresolved grievances in life might return from beyond the grave.”
Scarlett's beautiful face turned pale out of fear and disbelief. Meanwhile, a cold breeze seemed to blow from behind her.
“M-Mrs. Xuereb, I'm feeling a slight discomfort in my stomach. Why don't we return home for now and come back after the departure of Ms. Revelle's spirit?”
Olivia also felt a wave of fear washing over her. After all, she was responsible for the death of Veronique. The thought of attending the wake and potentially being influenced by something from the otherworldly realm terrified her, as it could have dire consequences for her.
“T-That sounds like a good plan. Mr. Revelle, please continue with your arrangements. We'll take our leave now.”
Observing the hurried departure of the two women, Bill couldn't suppress a scornful smirk.
“Those with guilty consciences deserve a wretched fate in the end. Finally, that scoundrel, Justin, proved to be somewhat dependable.”
Vanessa Winston, the assistant, gently pushed open the door and stepped into the CEO's office at Saunders Group.
“Mr. Saunders, the promotion plan for the new product is complete. Our main focus now is to choose a prominent advertising agency to handle the advertising campaign,” the assistant informed.
After conveying the information, she placed the documents she was holding on the desk.
Victoria, wearing a black suit and sporting a short hairstyle, sat upright in a swivel chair, attentively reviewing the documents before her. Her professional demeanor and fresh appearance exuded a sense of competence.
“The plan seems fine. Have you decided which advertising agency to collaborate with?”
Vanessa nodded and said, “If Saunders Group wants to enter the international market, I'm afraid we have to cooperate with LG, as they are the largest media company in the world. Coincidentally, you have connections with Mr. Lionel Gezmond, the person in charge of LG Group. Maybe we could...”
