Suddenly There Are Three (Bailey and Artemis) novel Chapter 826

Chapter 828 You Are A Reserved Man

She did not dare to push him away. It was evident that he was tensed and could break down at any moment.

Seeing him like that truly broke her heart.

She had known this man for several months now. She had seen his indifferent and brutal side but never this vulnerable.

That's right. Fragile is the right word.

At that moment, he could break down with just a single word or action.

She did not know what he had been through, but his anxiety told her she had something to do with it.

“I'm fine. I've never left the ward from the moment you brought me here.”

At that, she furrowed her brows slightly, falling silent for a moment before adding, “Well, I did go out once. I heard about the misfortune that befell Bailey, so I went to confirm it with Zeke. It was just that one time. I've been in the hospital room ever since. Veikko, can you tell me what happened? It breaks my heart to see you like this.”

Veikko gently pushed her away from his embrace and leaned in to seal her lips with a kiss.

A flicker of surprise flashed through Caridee's eyes, swiftly replaced by immense joy.

Veikko is kissing me. Will he take this opportunity to have sex with me? This is great. I've been looking forward to it for a long time. Hurry up. I'll cooperate fully.

Beautiful fantasies were always so fleeting. Just as she was enjoying his tenderness, a thud sounded on her head.

It was a huge knock on the head.

“Ouch, what are you doing...”

She pouted, looking at him with a face full of resentment.

Veikko snorted coldly and asked, “What's going on in that little head of yours? Speak up. Let's hear it.”

The young girl puffed her cheeks, speaking confidently, “You've already kissed me, yet you won't allow me to daydream? Fine, I'll tell you. I thought you were going to do it with me.”

Immediately, she suffered another knock on the head.

Caridee exclaimed, “Ow! That hurts!”

The young man cradled her face, showering her forehead with a flurry of kisses.

“Thank goodness you're unharmed. Otherwise, I would never be able to forgive myself.”

Caridee swatted his hand away, grabbed his collar tightly, and said fiercely, “You've kept me in suspense long enough. Isn't it time you came clean?”

A hint of hesitation flashed in the young man's eyes. “It's nothing much, I'm just worried that Shaun might harm you, so I'm a bit anxious.”

Clearly, Caridee did not believe him.

The last time she was taken by Mindy, he had never lost control as he just did.

“Be honest with me, or I'll go out every day.”

Veikko sat down and leaned against the head of the bed, pulling her into his embrace with one arm.

After a moment of silence, he slowly pulled out his phone from his pocket and handed it to her.

Just as Caridee was about to reach out to take the device, Veikko suddenly raised his arm.

“Are you messing with me?”

“No, but promise me you wouldn't get angry or lose your temper after reading what's inside.”

Caridee quickly nodded, wanting to get the phone first before saying anything else.

Of course, Veikko read her mischievous thoughts. Unable to resist it, he reached out and ruffled her hair vigorously.

After successfully messing up her hair, he then handed her the phone.

Caridee glared at him before finally shifting her gaze to the screen.

With just one glance, she sat up straight.

“W-What... S-She... N-No... It's me. No, it's not me.”

Veikko quickly reached out to pull her back, pulling away the blanket to examine her injured leg.

To his surprise, she was only wearing a pair of panties.

“Ahem. Ahem.”

Caridee felt a chill run through her body, and in an instant, she realized what was happening. A blush swiftly spread across her cheeks.

Veikko was shocked beyond words. “I-I'm sorry. I didn't know you...”

Caridee was instantly elated and she wrapped her arms around his neck, saying with a beaming smile, “So, you're actually a shy and reserved guy.”

“Stop messing around,” Veikko chided, as he carefully tucked her back under the blanket.

Caridee clung tightly to him, grumbling, “I want to do that. Why can't I mess around when you dare to make a move on me? What is it? Do you not have the guts?”

The way he said nothing, his handsome face tense and his ears flushed red, made Caridee burst into laughter.

As she laughed, her gaze fell back onto the screen of the phone.

Caridee stopped laughing when she saw the woman who looked exactly like her lying on the bed, tormented to a pitiful state.

“Who sent this to you?”

She finally understood why the young man lost control.

It was fortunate that he had a strong mind. If he were an ordinary person, they would have probably broken down upon seeing the picture.

A blood-thirsty expression flashed in the young man's eyes. Parting his thin lips, he forced two words through his teeth, “Shaun Carter.”

Caridee furrowed her brows, her mind racing. She seemed to have understood something.

“Someone created a woman who looked exactly like me and presented her to Shaun. Thinking she is me, Shaun sent you these horrible photos to provoke you and make you yield to his threats. Am I right?”

“Yes. It must be Mr. Philip's and his son's doing. They need Shaun to send reinforcements to help them attack the Tarragon Headquarters.”

Caridee instinctively reached for her phone on the bedside table. “I'll call Shaun. I'll tell him that woman is a fake. He's been played by Mr. Philip and his son. I'm going to disrupt their alliance.”

Veikko reached out to stop her, shaking his head and saying, “There's no need for that. Let him dispatch his forces to attack the Tarragon Headquarters. Once he's lost some of his men, it will be easier for me to deal with him.”

After some thought, Caridee found the plan reasonable and said, “All right, but can the Tarragon Headquarters handle it? That's Artemis' life's work. We can't just watch it go through a change of ownership.”

Veikko hesitated for a moment, then leaned in to whisper a few words into her ear.

Caridee's eyes widened in disbelief as she stared at him. “Really? Artemis and Bailey aren't—”

At this point, she abruptly stopped speaking. As if struck by a sudden thought, her expression fell. “They're no longer with us,” she said.

Veikko reached out and pinched her cheek, laughing as he said, “You're growing up so fast, Caridee. Remember, your brother and sister-in-law are considered 'dead' until the matter is resolved. Also, starting from today, you can't go anywhere. We can't let Shaun know that the person by his side is an imposter, understand?”

“Mmhmm.” Caridee quickly nodded, leaning in to whisper in his ear, “Since I'm like this now, do you really have no plans to... Hmm.”

Veikko reached out and covered her lips, his voice hoarse as he warned, “Stop it, or I'll teach you a lesson.”

At the same time, Bailey was bullied intensely by Artemis in the laboratory.

“Artemis, I won't restrain you anymore in the future. A man who has been controlling himself for so long is truly terrifying.”

Even though she said that, her face beamed with a radiant smile.
