Chapter 939 I Can Make Love To You
While Bailey was in a daze, footsteps rang out from behind her. Artemis had come out.
He had obediently donned a white shirt and black pants, and a limited-edition luxury watch worth tens of millions adorned his wrist.
He exuded the charm unique to a mature man. An aura of superiority was naturally inherent in him, rendering him dignified and regal.
One could count on the fingers of one's hand the number of such a man like him in the entire world.
He was at the top of the social ladder, even after he had stepped down from the position of patriarch of the Luther family.
The identities he had under wraps could still bolster his aura, allowing him to be all-powerful.
Bailey gazed at his handsome reflection in the mirror, a smile playing on her lips.
This man can only be mine. No one should even think about stealing him away!
Taking a deep breath, she stood up and walked over to him. Then, she reached out and hooked her arms around his neck.
Artemis smiled faintly, a hint of helplessness flashing across his eyes.
Since she wants to have fun, I'll let loose and play along with her.
He wrapped an arm around her waist, gently tracing her lipstick-coated lips with the fingertips of his other hand.
“Even if other women besides you were to draw close to me, I'd never reciprocate voluntarily. I'm deeply infatuated with you, Bay. In this world, only you can give me the happiness I seek.”
Bailey swatted his hand away. “Don't rub off all the lipstick, I haven't even started yet.”
Despite her harsh tone, a sense of sweetness lingered within her.
Subsequently, she leaned in and kissed his handsome face, leaving a trail of bright red marks.
Then, she moved on to his white shirt, covering it in red lipstick marks as well.
Artemis leaned back against the shelf with her in his arms. He gazed at her smilingly, a gentle and indulgent look in his eyes, allowing her to do as she pleased.
“Don't compare yourself to others, Honey. They are far beneath you. Take this moment, for instance. You've got the freedom to do as you please with me, but they don't.”
As his words fell, his gaze gradually darkened and became indecipherable.
It was for no other reason than the woman in his arms having moved on to something else. She was no longer messing around with his shirt but had unbuttoned it and plastered herself against his chest.
His nerves stretching taut, he stared blankly at the crystal chandelier above his head.
He etched that day's agonizing lesson deep in his heart.
If I ever let a woman get close to me again, I'll slap myself a few times first!
An indeterminate amount of time passed. When Bailey had had her fill of fun, she once again wrapped her arms around his neck and leaned close to his ear. She whispered, “What are you waiting for? Carry me in.”
Taken aback, Artemis asked somewhat dazedly, “I can make love to you?”
He was afraid that it was yet another cunning trick to torture him.
If she were suddenly called a halt at the critical moment, he would die.
Bailey glanced at the countless red marks on his body and smiled in satisfaction.
Even though such behavior was quite childish, she delighted in it.
“Didn't you say I'm different from other women? Then, you need to prove it to me and show me how exactly I'm different from them.”
Without further ado, Artemis swept her into his arms and whispered into her ear, “I can love you fiercely. This is something no other woman can have.”
Thereafter, no more words were exchanged between them.
At the same time, in another mansion on the east side of the research base, Veikko reached out and grabbed Caridee's roaming hands in the room.
“It's not the right time yet, Caridee. Wait until I've settled things with Shaun and asked the Luther family for your hand in marriage before giving yourself to me, okay?”
A hint of disappointment flashed in Caridee's eyes, but she nodded obediently. “All right. Then, I'll go to Epea with you, accompanying you in dealing with Shaun.”
Veikko's brows furrowed. He shook his head, saying, “Shaun has lost his sanity, and his madness might worsen from here on out. You can't go with me. I'm afraid he might harm you. After all, you backed him into a corner. He's hell-bent on getting his revenge on you. If you were to go over, it'd be no different from offering yourself up to him on a silver platter. Although I'm not scared of him, it's difficult to guard against hidden dangers. If he were to resort to underhanded tactics, I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to protect you.”
“But—”
“Caridee,” Veikko's face turned serious, and he said solemnly, “Do you still want me to marry you? If you do, then follow my plan.”
Pouting, Caridee huffed, “Fine, then. Take good care of yourself. I'll be waiting for you to go to Hallsbay to marry me.”
Veikko cradled her face and planted a kiss on her forehead. “Okay. Once I've settled the grudges of the past, I'll return to Hallsbay to look for you.”
Caridee threw herself into his arms, her voice muffled as she said, “I know you've been deprived of affection since childhood, and these years have been very tough for you. Even though I can't make up for the familial love you've missed out on, I can always be there for you. Also, I'll bear you a few children, so you'll never be lonely for the rest of your life.”
Veikko hugged her tightly. His heart pounded wildly, each thump resonating within his chest.
She's a ray of sunshine in my life, illuminating my dark world. I must hold onto her tightly!
The next day, Bailey dragged her sore body got out of bed to wash up.
Her movements were light, and she was careful not to wake the man, who was still sleeping soundly.
It was a long night for them yesterday. Coupled with the fact that he hadn't rested for several days to deal with matters concerning the Hoffman family, he fell into a deep sleep right after they had wrapped things up in the wee hours of the morning.
When Bailey had finished washing up and returned to the room fully dressed, she headed straight to the bed. Leaning over, she planted a kiss on Artemis's handsome face.
As she was about to step away, she suddenly sensed a pressure at her waist. In the next moment, she found herself falling into his arms.
“Why were you pretending to be asleep when you were already awake? Geez!”
With his eyes closed, Artemis asked in a raspy voice, “I only woke up when you sneakily kissed me. What time is it now?”
Glancing at the clock on the wall, Bailey replied softly, “It's half past eight. You can sleep a bit longer. I'm going to the Hoffman residence to perform surgery on Huntley.”
Artemis shook his head and sat up with her in his arms. “I'll go with you.”
He did not dare stay at the research base any longer. If Rebecca were to come over again, he had a feeling that appeasing Bailey for the second time wouldn't be as easy as the first.
He was not a masochist, so he would be going wherever his wife went.
Seeing right through him, Bailey could not help teasing, “Is that confidant of yours some great scourge that you're so scared of her to such an extent?”
Before Artemis could speak, a sudden flurry of footsteps rang out from the living room outside.
Instinctively, he reached out and pulled the blanket over himself.
Bailey also reflexively crouched to pick up the clothes scattered on the ground. But before she could finish, the door was already flung open.
On the heels of that, Zayron and the Maxton casually strolled in from outside.
“Um, we came up to see whether Daddy is still alive.”
“Whoa! It was such an intense battle, huh? Tsk-tsk, even your clothes have turned into shreds. How impressive!”
Bailey's face turned a charming shade of red, and she said to Artemis, “Make sure you give them the beating they're itching for.” Then, she walked to the door and grabbed Susan, who was trying to sneak in, before heading out.
With a beaming smile, Susan asked, “Mommy, since you and Daddy are so diligent, when can I expect to have another brother or sister?”
In response, she received two slaps from her mother.
She could not help but scoff, “How useless! A vixen came knocking on your door and challenged you, but a hook of the finger from Daddy had you crumble.”
