Surviving the Apocalypse with my Multiplier System novel Chapter 261

The Yellow Team leader stepped out of the car and walked over to the large barn doors. He could hear the chickens chirping inside, and by the sound of it, there were many.

He walked over and knocked on the barn door a few times.

Jimmy stood on the other side of the door, watching from the cracks.

"Go away, you're not welcome here", he warned.

Instead of feeling threatened, the leader grinned.

"Oh, come on now. We're just a group of friendly visitors, let us in"

Jimmy lifted his shotgun, "I won't say it again. Leave now, you're not welcome here".

After a momentary silence, the leader smiled and turned around, "Okay, okay. You made your point". He slowly walked back over to his car and got inside.

Jimmy watched from the cracks a little surprised that his threats worked. Judging by the number of cars they had, he knew he was very outnumbered.

He slightly lowered his shotgun, feeling slightly relieved.

But just before he could fully place the shotgun away, he noticed the jeep that was closest to the barn slam on the gas and drive full speed ahead straight into the barn door.

Jimmy rolled to the side to avoid being run over as the wooden barn doors burst open.

As soon as the jeep made it inside a group of men holding guns jumped out, immediately surrounding him.

"Sorry, it turns out that I want to come in after all", the Yellow Team leader said sarcastically.

"Fuck. You're crazy!", yelled Jimmy, reaching out to lift his shotgun.

He quickly shot the men in front of him before rolling to the side once more. The first man fell over, dead, but the second man stood still, unfazed even as he was bleeding from his chest.

Jimmy's eyes widened. He couldn't believe that someone wouldn't even cry out a little bit after being shot directly in the chest.

"Freaks!", he said and loaded more ammo into his shotgun.

The bleeding man grinned and walked over slowly reaching out to grab him with his bloody hands. His movements were slow due to the injury, but he didn't seem affected by the pain at all.

Jimmy rolled over and aimed once more, taking another shot that was aimed straight for the head.

The shot hit successfully and the injured man fell over, dead.

From the sidelines, the leader was watching the fight unfold with interest. He and his subordinates have been taking the red drug for a while now.

"Amazing. To not even flinch at such a wound is amazing!", he clapped, excited that he could also avoid pain.

He signaled for more of his men to go after Jimmy while the rest began raiding and looting the settlement.

Jimmy saw their movements but couldn't stop them. He could barely keep these people away from him, let alone chase after the others.

The two new men that were approaching him had a hunger in their eyes. When they saw how their teammates fell, a burning desire to rip him apart brewed inside.

Jimmy loaded his shotgun once more and took a shot.

"Fuck", he whispered.

The shot landed but it wasn't fatal. Once again the scene of these people walking over, unflinching, made him shiver.

He continued to load his shotgun and take shots, finally killing one of them. The other one was more agile and difficult to hit. He would jump away as soon as he saw Jimmy take aim.

"How is he moving like that with a hole in his chest?"

The settlers all shook as they walked past Jimmy, tears welling up in their eyes.

A few minutes later the barn was emptied.

"That's everything boss. We got a really good haul this time. They had many good things!", reported one of the men.

The leader smiled, "Good, with this, we can go back and show off our haul! I'm certain the other teams didn't do this well!".

He laughed happily as if this was all just a game.

They sped off back to the underground base, ready to show off their finds.

In the forest behind the barn was a small stream.

"Mom, what do you think happened? Can I go see Daddy?"

Jimmy's wife held on to her daughter with shaky hands. She heard the gunshots and knew that there was trouble inside.

When her daughter ran over with Jimmy's message to run and hide, she tried telling the others as she ran into the forest.

The others smiled and waved their hands, "Oh, it's probably just another trader. There's no need to be so frightened".

She wanted to convince them further, saying that it was Jimmy's order, but she didn't have the time to convince them all.

Lifting her daughter into her arms, she ran into the forest and jumped over the small stream, hiding behind a large bush.

When she heard the first shot of Jimmy's shotgun go off, she knew there was a big problem. He never shot anyone before, only using the weapon to scare people off.
