Mia kept her cool, even though she wanted to give that bold young heiress a round of applause. She loved her guts.
Even with someone coughing to get her attention, Aimee snapped her fingers and called over a servant. “Get that guy with his mistress out of here. I’m Ms. Aimee, and I won’t stand for it!”
“Miss, that’s Mr. Shaw, our business partner. The master invited him personally,” the servant explained.
Aimee was livid. “So you can’t kick him out, huh?”
Mia couldn’t help but suggest, “Why not invite his wife over then?”
Aimee clapped her hands, “…That’s a brilliant idea!”
She shot a glance at the gentle and composed Mia. Not only was she stunning, but she also had just the right kind of sass.
Mia sat there, playing the role of the sophisticated Mrs. Cedillo, when a servant discreetly approached Miss Hernandez and whispered something to her.
The heiress, Miss Hernandez, lost her cool, “That ungrateful Mae…”
“Cough, cough, cough” went the actress, practically hacking up a lung.
Mia watched the “show” unfold with a gossipy grin that was so much like her beloved son’s. What’s the deal here?
Andre sat in the lounge, his son in his arms, surrounded by the elders who had invited him over for dinner the previous night, including those who were there when his wife’s paper got rejected.
Mr. Sullivan struck up a conversation, “Andre, did Mrs. Cedillo’s paper get sorted out?”
Talking about his wife made Andre smile, “She graduated without a hitch, which was a huge relief for me.”
