Andre glanced around, noting the lack of any security cameras. Mia was pacing anxiously, recalling the scene in the car when she was harassed, and her little boy, with his tiny feet, kicked back in defiance.
"Honey, hit me," she urged.
Andre hesitated, "…"
"Come on, just hit me," Mia insisted, desperation in her voice.
Andre gently felt her forehead, checking for a fever—nothing out of the ordinary.
Pulling her husband into the yard, Mia cleared a space. "Seriously, hit me. It'll make our son appear."
Andre, conflicted, confessed, "I can't do it."
Mia raised her voice, "Is anyone brave enough to hit me?"
Everyone averted their eyes, not daring to touch her; even if the boss wouldn't hit her, they certainly weren’t going to risk it.
"If you don't hit me, I'll ask for a divorce," Mia threatened.
In the next moment, Andre wrapped his arms around her, gently lowering her to the ground in a way that made it look like she’d been hit.
Mia sat on the ground, crying out, "Help, honey, you hit me!"
Andre sighed; he hadn’t used any force, just gently laid his petite wife down.
From a tiny gap in the wall and fence, Henry, mustering all his courage, climbed over the "barrier" and dashed out, his little voice shouting, "Daddy's being mean!"
He rushed over, delivering a small kick to his dad's leg and tapping his knee with his tiny hands. With his cheek swollen, he glared up at his dad as if to say, "How dare you hit Mommy?"
Seeing her son, Mia scooped him up. "Henry, my baby, I finally found you."
