Molly had no clue when she’d dozed off during the movie, but Chad did. When the horror scenes got too intense, she'd squint her eyes shut, only to get bored when the suspense faded. After a series of yawns, she eventually drifted off, snuggled against Chad’s chest.
Chad wasn’t really watching the movie; his attention was all on her.
With a gentle sigh, he cleaned up the remnants of their movie night and carefully tucked her into bed.
As Molly settled in, she instinctively rolled over, finding a cozy spot to continue her sleep.
Chad took a quick trip to the bathroom and returned with a washcloth to clean her hands, sticky from peeling lychees earlier.
When it was time for Chad to turn in, he stripped down to his cotton boxers, his muscular torso on display as he leaned in to check on Molly.
Restless, Chad tossed and turned until he finally slid closer, lifting the blanket to touch Molly’s red sash - the once perfect bow now untied.
With a mischievous grin, he finally drifted off to sleep, content.
Whether it was the comfort of the new bed or just getting used to the new environment, Molly overslept. By the time she woke up, Mia had already finished a class.
And then...
“Where are my clothes?! Chad, where are yours?!” Molly exclaimed, quickly covering herself with the vibrant red quilt.
Chad, completely unfazed, stood up. “I changed mine. Check the floor for yours.”
Sure enough, there was her red gown on the floor.
Molly eyed Chad suspiciously as she picked up her nightgown, wondering aloud, “How did our clothes end up all over the place just from sleeping?”
She gave Chad a couple more curious glances.
In the afternoon, Molly decided to switch back to her old pajamas, curious to see if they would also “run away” during the night. Sure enough, her nightgown stayed put, clearing Chad from her suspicions.
But every morning, she still woke up in Chad’s arms, him shirtless as always.
Chad often remarked, “Sleeping without clothes is just more comfortable.”
Three days after their wedding, on her visit back to the Cedillo family home, Molly eagerly awaited Mia’s school dismissal before pulling her aside to inquire, “Mia, does Andre wear pajamas to bed?”
Mia replied, “Let me guess, Chad sleeps without pajamas, claiming it’s more comfortable?”
Molly nodded. “Andre too?”
“At first, he didn’t. But then Henry started copying his dad, refusing to wear pajamas to bed, wanting to be just like him. Eventually, Andre had to give in and wear them. Now, it’s a whole ordeal getting Henry dressed for bed - a two-person job,” Mia explained.
Molly was speechless.
Her inquiry settled, Molly decided to buy a giant teddy bear to place between her and Chad. The first night, Chad kicked the teddy bear off the bed, saying, “Molly, don’t push your luck.”
Eventually, Molly learned her lesson.
Days into the marriage, Molly finally got used to navigating back to their room and sleeping beside Chad, accepting his presence beside her pillow, and even started to enjoy the mornings in bed again.
What made Molly happiest was that the people needed Chad, and he was back at work!
