“Here’s your breakfast Larissa said as she turned around and reached for the takeaway bag from the backseat. She pressed her palm against it to check the temperature and added. “The car healer has been on the whole time, so it should still be warm.” 

“Thanks, sis!” Lana’s smile stretched until her eyes nearly disappeared, but she did not immediately open the bag after taking it. Instead. she assessed the car’s interior. “Larissa, why do you drive such a cheap car? Lana asked casually, but Larissa still saw the scorn and disdain in her eyes. At last, Lana rested her gaze on Larissa and said, “I heard from Mom that she gave you a credit card with one million dollars when you left home. Didn’t you use it?” 

Larissa recalled the credit card incident. It was back when she had just graduated from university and started working at the Regal Dynasty Hotel. One day. Yvette phoned her, showering her with warm regards and concern for her, causing Larissa to feel uneasy. Yvette had then uttered, “Your father, sister, and I miss you, Come home for a visit.” 

Larissa had been skeptical of Yvette’s words, but at that time, her relationship with her family wasn’t completely broken yet. Therefore, she had gone home for a visit upon Yvette’s insistence. During the initial two days of her return, Yvette had showered her with more smiles than she had ever received in the past 22 years. At that moment, Larissa nearly wept. She had always thought that Yvette had forgotten her birthday. Yvelle hugged her and consoled her gently, “You’re my daughter. How could I forget your birthday?” After that, Larissa took to Facebook and shared a status that read. “The most blessed moment of my life.” However, such bliss did not last very long. 

On the third day, Yvette dropped a bombshell on Larissa, revealing that they had arranged a marriage for her with a director of Soaring Corporation, “I’ve looked into that guy. His family is rich and influential, although he’s a bit older. But most men with successful careers aren’t young anymore. Once you marry him, you won’t even have to lift a finger anymore and can just live life like a princess,” explained Yvette. Then she added proudly. “Don’t you think mommy always gives you the best?” 

Larissa had gone cold all over, and she felt as though she had plummeted from the gates of heaven back into the depths of hell For the first time in here, she went all out and argued with Yvette fiercely. Since they had already exposed their true selves. Yvette could no longer be bothered to put on an act. After scolding Larissa, Yvette locked her in her room, leaving her feeling like a prisoner. 

Larissa threatened her by starving herself, but Yvette remained unmoved. One time, Larissa even heard her telling the housekeeper in charge of sending her meals. “Let her starve if she won’t eat! She’ll marry that man as long as she’s still breathing!”
