Sweet Subterfuge novel by Trina Duo novel Chapter 198

Chapter 198
This was the first time Larissa had ever sat in the same car as Xavier.
When Larissa was a child, she remembered watching Xavier and Lana from the window.
Every morning. Xavier would send Lana to school.
For a long time, her biggest wish was to be able to ride in Xavier’s car too.
Unfortunately, the fulfillment of her wish came too late now that she had a complete change of heart since her childhood.
At this moment, she didn’t even feel the slightest bit of joy; instead, she felt like she was on pins and needles.
Xavier closed his eyes and took a nap, refusing to speak to her.
The two bodyguards in the front seats didn’t talk to her either.
Larissa stared out the window in a daze, hoping that this drive would end quickly.
Xavier had booked flight tickets in the first class and Larissa was given a seat as well.
She thought that this was probably the only nice thing she experienced throughout the journey.
As this was Larissa’s first time in first class, her cautious and restrained behavior drew multiple disapproving glances from Xavier.
Although they were sitting in different rows, she could hear him mutter to his bodyguard sitting beside him, “Indeed, she’s just a poor and low-class bas ta rd.”
The bodyguard agreed with him immediately, “She definitely can’t compare to Miss Lana.”
Xavier sneered, “Naturally. No one else can compare to my Nana!”
The short flight of two hours quickly came to an end.
After being away for so long, Bartham had changed completely from when she left, leaving Larissa amazed at the sights.
However, there were also some things that remained unchanged, like the Seymour Mansion and the attitude of their household staff toward her.
She followed behind Xavier and entered the mansion.
The household staff smiled and greeted Xavier politely, but when they saw Larissa, their faces turned blank.
Some of the nicer ones would greet her, while the majority pretended that she was invisible.
Larissa wasn’t concerned by the difference in treatment. Instead, if they were to act warmly towards her, she would feel that something fishy was going on with their odd behavior.
Xavier informed her that Yvette refused to undergo chemotherapy and insisted on being discharged from the hospital.
Regarding this statement, Larissa felt that it was believable.
Yvette was regarded as one of the top actresses when she was younger, even more famous than Laura was currently.
At that time, she was known as the country’s “Beauty Queen”.
If it weren’t for her title, she would have had no chance of marrying into the Seymour family with a child in tow.
The most important thing that Yvette cared about was her beautiful appearance.
Undergoing chemotherapy was an especially grueling experience.
Having to receive chemotherapy multiple times would make anyone look old and tired, even a goddess wouldn’t be spared.
It would be more unbearable for Yvette to be ugly than to lose her life.
“Your mother is currently staying in the room next to yours on the third floor,” Xavier said, “you should go up and meet her. I won’t come with you.”

Chapter 198
The Seymour Mansion was built a long time ago and only had three floors, with no further additions made.
The household staff lived on the first floor, while the second floor consisted of bedrooms, study rooms, and recreational spaces for the Seymour family. As for the third floor, it’s reserved for guests.
To avoid having Larissa appear in front of guests as much as possible, her room was located at the far end of the third-floor corridor.
Whenever there were guests visiting, she had to stay in her room and not take a step out of the door.
However, guests were a rare occurrence. Most of the time, she was the only one on the third floor.
When Larissa was a child, she was afraid of ghosts and the dark.
She pleaded countless times for Yvette to accompany her to the third floor, even if it was just sleeping in the room next to hers, but Yvette always refused without exception.
Sometimes, when Yvette was in a bad mood, Larissa would be beaten up for daring to make such a request.
