“Oh!” The nurse fumbled a note and two hundred–dollar bills from her pocket, handing them to Larissa. “Your husband seemed to have something urgent to do and left after a phone call, He gave me these before leaving and asked you to take a taxi to this address after you wake up.” Larissa took the note and crumpled it up, then tossed it away after taking one look at it. As for the two hundred dollars, she stuffed them carefully into the pocket of her sweater. The address Kevan had written on the note was probably his parents‘ address. She wondered if he would believe her if she told him she had accidentally lost the note. 

Larissa didn’t have a very high fever anymore, with her temperature slightly over 38 degrees. It subsided after she received the IV drip. After checking her temperature, the nurse cheerfully discharged her. Larissa took a taxi back to the hotel. The receptionist knew her, so she gave Larissa a spare key card without any hassle. 

The hotel room had been cleaned, and the mess from the previous night was gone. Larissa ate a simple lunch and obediently took all the medicine prescribed by the doctor. The u medicine kicked in very fast and she started feeling sleepy again after a little while, even though she had just woken up not long ago. 

She slept for long hours this time and only opened her eyes after the sky had turned dark. Her phone kept ringing. She spent a long time looking for it before finally spotting it abandoned on the sofa in the living room. As expected, the call was from Kevan. After a brief moment of contemplation, she ultimately decided to answer the call. 

“Where are you?” asked Kevan, his voice terribly icy. Larissa took a deep breath and tried her best to answer calmly. “At the hotel,” she 

“Didn’t the nurse pass 5 you the note?” 

“Yes, but I lost it.” 

“Why didn’t you call me after returning to the hotel?” Kevan’s voice only got colder. Although she was in a heated room, Larissa couldn’t help but shiver. “I was feeling dizzy, and I got sleepy after taking the flu medicine sol forgot” said Larissa steadily. The line went silent for a few seconds, and Kevan’s heavy breathing was the only sound to be heard. 

She thought he must be outraged. She would be lying if she said she wasn’t afraid. Although people sounded slightly different on the phone, Larissa could still tell it was Ruby Cole’s voice. 

It wasn’t a surprise that Ruby was at Kevan’s parents‘ house. She was Cody Rogers‘ wile, so following her husband to visit his relatives during New Year’s was normal. But Larissa just didn’t like it. As long as Ruby was near Kevan, she would get upset. Even so, she could not express her displeasure too obviously. “Someone’s calling for you. Go do your own thing. Lanssa felt so irritated that she nearly hung up. What did her issues with Kevan have to do with Ruby? Why did she have to meddle? Although she was the one who got away for Kevan, she had already married someone else, Didn’t she know she had to set boundaries between herself and other men?
