Sweet Subterfuge novel by Trina Duo novel Chapter 421

In order to take care of Aster, Larissa applied to clear off all the annual leave that she accumulated in one go from the headquarters.

Although chickenpox was not a life-threatening disease, it was quite a grueling experience.

Fortunately, Aster was a child with self-control. When he was awake, he would never scratch the blisters even if they itched terribly.

Larissa's task was to watch over Aster when he slept and make sure he did not scratch himself.

Every night, she sat by Aster's bed until the sun came up.

She was used to working late and pulling all-nighters, so it wasn't too hard for her initially.

However, after staying up for consecutive nights, her body couldn't take the exhaustion any longer.

When she came back from getting groceries, Larissa's vision went black on the way back from the supermarket. She had to sit on the ground immediately to avoid losing consciousness.

After a long while, she was still too dizzy to get up.

Most of the residents in this apartment complex were busy office workers that left for work early and returned home late at night.

It was noon on a working day, so there were hardly any people walking around.

As Larissa felt relieved that no one was around to see her make a fool of herself, a pair of black men's shoes entered her vision.

Taken aback, her heart pounded loudly in her chest.

Trying to overcome her lightheadedness, Larissa hurriedly packed up the scattered groceries and placed them into her shopping bag.

After that, she struggled to get off the ground with her hands as support.

Suddenly, Larissa heard a cold, familiar voice coming from above her, "Are you okay?"

Her movements halted abruptly. Larissa's eyes became wide and her jaw dropped.

It was as if everything had gone silent at that moment.

Larissa lifted up her head gradually.

Larissa's gaze slowly moved upward from his shoes and trailed up his fitted black pants.

When her gaze reached his waist, her attention was diverted to the hand he stretched out toward her.

His skin was so pale that it appeared almost translucent, his greenish veins visible.
