Aster became angry. "You're lying to me again, Godma!"
"I'm not! I promise." Wendy raised her hand as a way of swearing while tossing the ball into Larissa's court. "Your mommy never told me!"
She could not tell Aster the truth, so she could only come up with an excuse like this. Because she knew all too well that Aster would not dare ask Larissa who his father really was.
Suspicion was written all over Aster's face.
"When my mommy and daddy got married, you really didn't see him before?"
He had seen various TV shows and movies in which the moment someone got married, friends and family would go over to congratulate the newlywed couple. His mother had no family but only a good friend in his godmother. It was impossible for her to not be present at such an important event.
However, Wendy nodded guiltily. "I was in Aldovia at that time. Your mommy was in Caldor. My schoolwork was pretty heavy then, and her work was not easy, so we rarely contacted each other. She never informed me when she got married. Later, she got divorced and came here. Only then did we grow close again. After that, she gave birth to you. She never said anything about your daddy to me, and it's not convenient for me to ask her. Aster, listen to Godma. Don't look for your daddy anymore, please. The reason your mommy divorced your daddy, going as far as to move countries while being pregnant with you, is most certainly because your daddy did something unforgivable. Do you want to have found your daddy, but make your mommy sad?"
Wendy played the sympathy card well, for Aster immediately gave up the thought of looking for his biological father.
"Then …" He changed his strategy. "Godma, do you know what kind of man my mommy likes?"
To be honest, Wendy could not answer this question either. Larissa had only ever liked two guys—Travis Hardy and Kevan Rogers. But these two men could not be more different from each other. The only thing they shared in common was their gender.
However …
She probably liked Kevan more. Otherwise, why could she remain working in Covenford after divorcing Travis as if nothing had happened, but when divorcing Kevan, she eagerly flew over to Aldovia to heal herself?
"Um … A handsome one, I guess?" Wendy said. Larissa would definitely like handsome men like Kevan.
