She wasn't angry with Kevan. She didn't even resent Muffin for scratching Aster.
"Hey," she said, suddenly changing the subject. She asked seriously, "Have you considered taking your daughter to a psychologist?"
Although Muffin had always been more mischievous than Cookie since she was little, she was not a cat that would scratch people for no reason—otherwise, Kevan wouldn't have brought her to Larissa.
In Larissa's opinion, Muffin's strange behavior had been caused by Bethany's mistreatment.
Larissa had noticed earlier that Muffin and Cookie's soft, beautiful, long fur was particularly sparse in certain parts of their bodies—it was clearly not due to shedding, but rather, someone had been plucking their fur. There was no one else she could think of except Bethany.
Previously, when Bethany bullied classmates at school, Larissa attributed that behavior to her family spoiling her. However, she likely had an innate antisocial personality or a mental illness if she abused animals for no reason. Whatever the case was, she needed professional treatment.
Kevan didn't know how to answer Larissa's question. He knew very well in his heart that Ruby had ruined Bethany, twisting her personality to a point of no return.
He didn't pity Bethany as his upbringing had taught him to set even familial ties aside. Thankfully, he hadn't grown to be completely heartless. Aside from the people he considered his own, he didn't feel anything toward others. On top of that, Bethany was Ruby and Cody's child.
However, he had to act like he cared about Bethany in front of Larissa, otherwise, she would form a negative opinion of him.
He said solemnly, "After my grandfather's funeral, I'll discuss it with my mother."
"Oh, by the way." Due to the heavy atmosphere in the car, Kevan changed the topic. "Aster told me that their kindergarten has a family sports event tomorrow—"
