“I’m sorry. I had an accident a few years ago, and I don’t remember anything from the past,” Kevan apologized with a smile, using “amnesia 

as an excuse for his lack of recollection. 

“Oh, right.” Only then did Wendy recall that Larissa had mentioned this before. She felt a bit annoyed with herself–had she been talking to a brick wall earlier? 

Kevan continued to play his part, acting as il he truly had amnesia. “Did I know Larissa belare? No one has ever told me about it. Can you give me more details about what you said earlier?” 

“Forget it.” Wendy wasn’t sure how to explain their complicated history in such a short time. “Since you don’t remember, let’s just start fresh, shall we? Do you like Larissa?” she asked him earnestly. 

Though he couldn’t find the right words to express himself to Larissa, with Wendy, he responded smoothly. “Yes. I do.” even though he blushed with shyness. 

“Do you want to be with her?” 

“Yes.” 

“Do you promise to treat Aster as your own and take good care of him without any blases?” 

“I promise.” 

“Good. I’ll help you. then.” Wendy admired his honesty. This surprised Kevan; he thought it would take more ellort to gain acknowledgment from Wendy. 

As if she could read his mind. Wendy emphasized. “I’m helping you not for your sake, but because Aster really likes you. I want to fulfill his 

wish.” 

Kevan responded with a simple “Hmm” and replied. “Regardless, I still have to thank you for that.” 

“Just treat Larissa and Aster well if you want to thank me.” Wendy pointed to her eyes and then to him. “I’ll be keeping a close eye on you. If you ever act as despicable as you did in the past, I won’t hesitate to take them away from you.” 

“You won’t need to do that.” Kevan smiled. “Uncle Gary would personally see to that.” 

Wendy laughed, recalling the protective stance that Gary often assumed when it came to Larissa. “You’re probably right” 

Kevan played with Aster for a while before leaving. Once back at the hotel, he finally had time to check his inbox, which was now filled with new emails. He hadn’t given any orders to stop receiving updates, so his subordinates continued to send him information about Lana. 

He clicked on today’s email which contained several images of Lana’s medical reports. The reports were full of professional terminology and various numerical values that he couldn’t make sense of. But the one thing he could understand was the final diagnosis of HIV. In simple terms. Lana had been diagnosed with AIDS. 

AIDS was an incurable disease, and Lana would eventually succumb to it. However, there was no guarantee that she wouldn’t maliciously harm others or drag a few more people down with her during that process. 

His expression tumed cold at the thought, and he quickly replied to his subordinale’s email ‘Keep a close eye on Lana. Report to me immediately if you notice any unusual behavior.”
