Chapter 666
The thermostat was turned on by Lewis before he lelt. He specifically set it to 82.4″ F. The warm air brushed against the exposed side of her waist. Larissa lessed from the heat, but the skirt of the nightgown prevented her from moving well and it rolled up lurther.
Her head was heavy, and it was also throbbing. Her body fell like it was on fire. This made her realize that she probably had a lever.
Her arm was so heavy that she could not lift it at all. Larissa made a lot of effort to pick up her phone that was charging in the bedside cabinet. She did not know who put her phone on Do Not Disturb because Lewis and Gary each called her once in the afternoon, but she did not hear them.
Lewis even sent her a WhatsApp text. “I have dinner with a client, so order something for yourself if you’re hungry. Don’t wait for me.”
Looking at the time, Lews must be at the dinner right now.
Larissa was unwilling to disturb him while he was working. She did her best to crawl to the edge of the bed to call the front desk with the telephone. “Please send me a box of lever medication.” She also instructed them to bring up an extra room card-as she was now, she could never get out of bed to open the door for them.
After hanging up. Larissa lay down again. The wait was terrible, especially when she began to feel sleepy. As her eyes gradua ly closed. Larissa had no energy left to resist. She thought that she could just close her eyes for a bit.
While she was hall-asleep, a cool feeling came from her forehead, and it made her so comfortable that she sighed softly. But the feeling did not stay there lorg. Before she could enjoy it lully, it vanished.
Larissa frowned with disappointment.
The next second though, a familiar, deep voice sounded next to her ear. “Larissa, wake up.”
Even if her brain was in a mess right now, she was able to tell who it was-Kevan Rogers!
Shock and panic made her open her very heavy eyelids, Kevan’s tall figure took up most of her vision. His handsome face was filled with concern and care.
“Why are you here? Larissa’s throat was dry. It hurt the moment she spoke.
Kevan did not answer her question at once. He had a thermometer in his hand, and he kept shaking it. “Here, take your temperature.” He gave her the thermometer by bending down a little.
Larissa gritted her teeth and raised her hand with great effort. Her weak fingers could not hold the thermometer, so when Kevan let go. it dropped onto the bed.
“Sorry,” she apologized automatically.
Kevan picked up the thermometer, and his face became darker. “I help you” he said in a calm tone, and he even asked for her permissior. “Is that okay?”
If he helped her measure her temperature, that meant that he would have to touch her, Larissa bit her lip and held out her hand again. “I do it.”
Kevan did not force things. But her deliberate distancing made him feel really disappointed.
This time, Larissa did her best to hold tight to the thermometer. But she realized she had a problem in the next second. Her nightgown was the kind with buttons, and the collar was not that wide. To stick the thermometer under her armpit would mean that she had to unbutton the top two buttons.
