Chapter 700
“Fools! Fools! What a bunch of fools!”
Accompanied by the smashing of items, a deranged roar echoed in the presidential office of Soaring Corporation.
The secretaries and executive assistants exchanged glances. They hung their heads low helplessly and continued their work as though they didn’t hear the commotion.
Tony, the executive assistant soon received an intercom call. The number caused him to hesitate momentarily before he answered it politely, “Mr. Harrington. Mr. Cody isn’t at work today.
“I don’t think I have the right to ask for his personal business. Yes. I shall relay the message once he’s back.”
Once the call ended, his colleagues began texting in the group chat.
“Is Mr. Harrington calling for a BOD meeting?”
“Please, don’t. Can he not cause trouble?!”
“The King is on the verge of losing his sanity. Give him another blow, and we’re dead meat.”
“When will this end?”
“If this continues. I’m gonna resign. The pay is high, but the pressure as a presidential management staff is taking a toll on me. We’re on tenterhooks whenever the King loses his temper. This is hell.”
“Talking about handling the pressure, can anyone beat me in that?”
Sighing, Tony rose from his seat.
He tidied his clothes and straightened his back. His soldier–like expression spoke of determination and despair at the same time.
He informed the others. “I’m ready.”
The others cast him a sympathetic look.
He walked to the door to the presidential office. He knocked on the door only after taking a deep breath.
“Mr. Cody.” he called, and the commotion in the office stopped.
Seizing his chance, he said everything in one go, “Mr. Cody, Mr. Harrington called for a BOD meeting a moment ago. May I know when you will be free?”
Anxiously, he stood right there while waiting for an answer. However, all he received was stilling silence.
“Mr. Cody?” Tony prompted gingerly. “Are you alright?”
This time, he received a response. Something smashed against the door, causing it to shake, Tony, who was surprised, took a stride backward.
“Scram!” Cody shouted in fury. Tony ran back to his seat without a second thought. His heart was palpitating.
“That’s hella scary,” he typed. “It’s Code Red, everyone. Do not provoke the King unless it’s something very important.”
“Who has the guts to do that? That’s suicide!
“Say, did something tick the King off? Is the company going bankrupt?”
