Lewis‘ question was too straightforward, and Larissa was not prepared. 

“Huh?” Her eyes sparkled with something as she tried to lib. “I just thought that Dad was too much, so I said that to make him angry on purposer 

“So, you feel nothing for Mr. Rogers? Lewis pressed her. 

Larissa looked down. Her fingemails were digging into her palm. She did not want to let Lewis know how she felt. Still she did not want to 

lie either. 

Lewis knew what a long silence meant. “I know your answer. His voice was mild. “Next time Uncle Gary does anything else. I’ll help you.” 

Larissa looked up. Lewis was not looking at her, and his expression was still normal 

“Don’t tell Uncle Gary about this.” He reminded her. “Otherwise, I be kicked out of the house.” 

Larissa teared up because of how touched she felt. 

Although Lewis had always treated her like she was his biological sister, their relationship only formed because of Gary. 

She never expected Lewis to choose her when she was in conflict with Gary. But Lewis did exactly that today.

However, before Larissa could say anything heartfelt, Lewis interrupted her and said. “I’m only helping you because I think Uncle Gary’s not handling this correctly. I have no thoughts of matchmaking you and Mr. Rogers 

“But I must say this in defense of Uncle Gary. Although he can be kinda bossy, he’s sill the person who loves you most in the world. Never 

ever doubt that.” 

Larissa replied with a sob. “I know.” 

“Alright.” Lewis pushed her ankle off of his knee before using tissues to wipe of the remaining medicine on his hands. He grunted in disgust, still able to smell the medicine. Frowning, Lewis quickly threw the tissues into the trash can. 

Lewis stood up and asked Larissa, “Will you go home tonight, or will you stay here?” 

He had massaged her ankle for so long. The swelling had reduced a little, but it still looked pretty hideous. 

“If you want to stay, Fl be able to take you to the company tomorrow.” 

Larissa could not drive, and now that her ankle was swollen- 

“I’m going home.” Larissa was decisive. “Wendy will be working overtime for a week starting from tomorrow. She has no time to pick Aster up at all I have to do it myself.” 

The so–called “Industrial Summit was held at the hotel Wendy worked in. It just so happened that Wendy’s job was operational planning 

for big events. 

So, everything, including venue decoration and deployment of people, was under Wendy’s job scope. When she got really busy, she could not even go home, so forget taking care of a kid.
