Chapter 978
The steel chain was thick. The officer took a while to cut it off.
The moment she was free, Larissa felt immensely relieved.
She thanked the officer and scrambled downstairs.
Freddy was already taken away by the first officer. Only Lewis was left.
He was staring off into space with an unpleasant expression on his face.
“Lewis? Larissa waved her hand in front of him.
He snapped back to reality and looked down at her legs.
“All good?” he asked.
“All good.” She jumped around happily.
“Let’s go to the police station.” Lewis began pulling her downstairs. “We need to make a report. And Marilyn His gaze tumed cold.”
There’s no escape for her.”
When he mentioned Marilyn, Larissa’s heart sank.
“It’s all because of you!” She elbowed him and complained. “If it weren’t for your charisma, I wouldn’t have been kidnapped.”
“Me?” Lewis raised an eyebrow and retorted. “If you’d revealed your identity in the first place and let everyone know that you were my cousin, none of this would have happened.
“Also,” he pointed at Allen in the police car on the opposite road. “That monster has nothing to do with me. It’s all you.”
Larissa looked at where he pointed and met Allen’s gaze.
He was staring right at her. His dark stare was enough to give anyone the chills.
Larissa locked away quickly.
Lewis followed the police car from behind. He was going with Larissa to file the police report.
“He has an accomplice.” Larissa mentioned Marilyn’s name sed a gun to threaten me, and took me to Allen’s house.”
“She
But Allen refused to admit that he had conspired with Marilyn. He did not even admit that this was a kidnapping incident.
He insisted that he and Larissa were just quarreling and that Larissa had gone to his house willingly.
Once the officers brought Marilyn in, she insisted on her innocence just like Allen.
“I did invite Larissa out to fix the bracelet. But she said she wanted to take a detour hallway and wanted me to drive her there. She said
she’d meet me some other day.”
Because only Larissa had been present in the car with her, the officers had no idea who to believe. They were both saying different things.
Once he heard that Marilyn was refusing to admit her part in the crime, Lewis took out his phone.
“I have evidence.” He played a recording. It was the entire conversation that Larissa and Marilyn had had in the car.
Lewis had been worried about something happening to Larissa. Before she headed out. Lewis gave her another phone and got her to hide it in her bag so that no one would notice it.
This phone was on a call with him the entire time. He’d arranged for it to record everything.
The officers made a copy of the recording and brought it into the interrogation room for Marilyn to listen to.
