T Country's border was just fifty kilometers from P City, but due to the uneven roads and difficult terrain of the region, it took longer than an hour to reach T Country. Moreover, X was situated in the middle of T Country and M Country. Even though its exact location was unknown, the criminal organization posed a high threat.
Spencer and his men had been camping there for the past two days. While they had gotten quite familiar with the area, they still had to plan every step they took.
The moon was high in the sky when their comrades from P City went to sleep. At that time, a man stealthily walked towards the dormitory building, taking advantage of the shadows and bushes to conceal his identity.
"Ahem!"
Just as the man approached the entrance of the dormitory, he heard a cough from behind. He froze as someone approached him from behind with calm footsteps.
"When did you start sleepwalking?"
George asked. Spencer turned around and saw George leisurely walking towards him with his hands in his pockets. Their faces were lit by the soft moonlight.
Although he was dressed casually, Spencer kept his body stiff, like an army general's. He snorted and said, "Just pretend you didn't see me. By the way, why haven't you gone to bed yet?"
"I've been waiting for you." George walked up to him and eyed him cautiously. "Where were you?"
Spencer looked at him with a serious expression. "I was taking a walk."
"Do you think you can just walk to T Country?" George stepped forward and hissed under his teeth. "Don't treat me like I'm clueless. I've been watching you for the past two days. You sneak out after breakfast and return late at night. Have you already visited T Country secretly? Are you trying to find Fiona by yourself? It's a huge place. Where will you even begin searching for her?"
Spencer had heard enough from George. "It's none of your business," he said with gritted teeth.
"It's not just about you anymore. We're all in this together, so it's our business too!" George frowned. "Since we joined forces with you to fight X, you can't just sneak off alone and keep us in the dark. You'd better wait for us to come up with a plan."
"Wait, wait, wait. Don't ever say that word again! I'm sick of it!" Spencer roared furiously. "What makes you think I can wait any longer? I know Fiona is somewhere in T Country, but I can't save her even though I'm only a few miles away. You can't expect me to sit here and wait till she's dead! I can't do that!" "Do you have any idea how dangerous it is for you to go there alone?"
George couldn't help but shout. "The relationship between the two countries is already tense. If they come to know that you sneaked across the border, they will simply arrest you. Even if you escape the arrest, you will never be allowed to enter their country again. Is that so hard to understand?"
"I know," Spencer said in a low and gloomy voice. "I know it's a huge risk, but I just can't control myself. I can't wait any longer. I have a strong feeling that Fiona is in great danger. So to me, it doesn't matter. It's a chance I'm willing to take if it means that I might get to see her face again. I don't care about anything else.
But trust me on one thing.
I won't be foolish enough to let myself get into trouble before I save her." A determined expression appeared on Spencer's face.
George pursed his lips and sighed. "I know. So what should I do?"
Spencer gave him a smug smile. "Just pretend you never saw me. If anyone asks, you were sleeping and didn't see a thing."
George laughed helplessly in response. "Yeah, I was sleeping tonight. I didn't see anyone sneak out."
They looked at each other and nodded in agreement. Then, remembering something all of a sudden, Spencer asked, "Did you find anything about Charles?"
