Take Me Away novel Chapter 133

M City was considerably colder than the balmy and tropical P City. It had snowed in M City for three days now, and people stayed indoors to protect themselves from the cold and icy weather. The waiting lounge at M City's international airport was packed with people standing there with expectant faces.

Just then, a flight from B Country landed, and a crowd of passengers exited the aircraft. Among them was a strikingly handsome young man wearing a green sweatshirt and khaki pants. Holding a small suitcase in one hand, he rushed towards the exit.

"Excuse me, sir, are you Ryan Wen?" As soon as he entered the waiting lounge, two policemen walked up to him and saluted him.

"Yes." Ryan nodded in reply.

One of the policemen requested politely, "Please come with us."

Ryan looked at them calmly and nodded. "Okay." He had expected the police to show up ever since his mother called him just a few days ago.

The policemen followed him from a close distance. This attracted a lot of attention from the bystanders, and many of them started pointing at Ryan as they whispered to each other. However, none of that bothered Ryan as he was only interested in knowing what his brother had done. He turned a deaf ear to what people talked about him.

"Mr. Wen! Sir!" A familiar voice came through the crowd.

Ryan turned around and found Andrew walking towards him.

"Andrew!" He waved his hand in greeting as he walked closer. "Andrew, how are you? How is my mom?"

"She's okay." Andrew patted Ryan on his back. "I haven't seen you in such a long time. You're taller than you were before. Come with me, I'll take you home."

"Andrew, I have to go with the police. You go home. I'll be there soon," Ryan informed him, holding his hand.

"But you haven't done anything wrong. Why are you going with them?" Andrew blocked his way and continued to persuade Ryan. "Come, let's go home."

"Sir! We request you to cooperate with us." One of the policemen stepped forward with a serious expression.

Ryan tugged at Andrew's sleeve and whispered, "Andrew, it's okay. I'll go visit my dad and find out what happened. The police can't arrest me without a reason. I'll be back home soon."

"But..."

"Andrew, don't worry about me, I'll be fine. Just go home." Ryan patted him on his back, reassuring him.

"Fine, then. By the way, Sophia came over yesterday looking for you."

"Sophia..." Ryan gave him a slight nod. "We'll talk about that later. Andrew, please, just go home."

"All right, Mr. Wen."

Ryan was escorted outside by the two policemen. He glanced outside the window as he sat in the police car. Returning to M City made him think about Fiona and how much he missed her.

"Achoo!"

Meanwhile, in P City, Fiona sneezed all of a sudden. She rubbed her nose with one hand while holding a lunch box in the other. She was just stepping out of George's ward, feeling content with herself for successfully helping him regain his health. He was more motivated to stand up and walk now, which made her happy.

Spencer, who was just walking over to her from across the corridor, noticed her good mood. Even though her expression was plain, he could tell how she was feeling just by looking at her.

'Is she happy because of George?' he wondered. "Fiona,

have you had your lunch? George has nurses to take care of him. Come with me. Hand the tray to the nurse," Spencer said in a commanding tone and grabbed her arm.

Fiona glanced at him. "Where are we going?"

"To the shooting range."

"The shooting range? But why?" Fiona asked though she already knew what Spencer had in mind.

"I want to see how good your aim is. You haven't had any target practice in a long time. Besides, we don't want your skills to get rusty now, do we?"

Fiona was a completely different person since the kidnapping incident. The horrors she had gone through had had a huge impact on her attitude towards life. She had never been a gun enthusiast. However, she felt it was essential for her to improve her skills in using a weapon for emergencies.

"Spencer, let go of my hand."

Fiona scuffled with him. "No, I won't."

Spencer firmly shook his head. "You always treat me like an outsider. Do you even like me? I want to know what is going on with you, but you won't talk to me. You won't even let me touch you..." His words rendered her speechless.

Was she that cold to him? Fiona couldn't believe her ears.

"Have you ever considered me as your husband? At times, I feel like an idiot chasing after you. No matter how much I try, you keep getting farther away from me." Spencer grabbed her hand tightly as he said those words. It was very unlike him to express his feelings so openly.

Fiona stared at his back, still in shock. She had shut off her heart completely in the past ten years. She had believed that she was doing much better now and had opened up a lot, but it seemed that that wasn't the case, according to Spencer.

The shooting range here was quite similar to the one at the base. Spencer ordered the other people in the shooting range to leave in order to get some privacy for Fiona and him.

"I'll give you a gun." Spencer changed the topic of their conversation as soon as he entered the shooting range. He took a gun and handed it to Fiona. "This is the same gun you used last time. Hold it carefully and aim right in the middle."

Fiona felt different as she held the gun in her hands.

"Look straight ahead and aim for the center." Spencer stood behind her and almost wrapped himself around her as he held her hands and guided her aim to the center of the target. "My woman's aim must be as good as mine."

The sound of the gunshot pierced their ears.

Right when Spencer finished his words, Fiona had pulled the trigger out of nervousness.
