"This… is the drug he gave me… I've confessed everything… Let me go…" Horace choked the words out between gasps for breath.
So he really did tamper with Evelynn's medicine! Yvette tightened her grip on his neck, her gaze icy and void of warmth. After inspecting the drug in his hand, her expression changed instantly.
The vial contained a drug far more potent than the one she had previously obtained from DY Organization. Its effects were stronger, but so were its side effects.
No wonder Evelynn couldn't be saved even after being injected with the antidote. In such a short time, DY Organization had developed an enhanced version of the drug. If they continued using it on other innocent children and infants, the consequences would be unimaginable.
"Where did you get this drug?"
Intimidated by Yvette's overwhelming presence, Horace trembled as he spoke, his voice shaky. "A middle-aged man came to me some time ago. He only told me his last name was Morgrath. I don't know anything else.
"He gave me this drug… and said that if I secretly mixed it into Evelynn's medicine, my wish would come true! I… I just wanted to learn your acupuncture methods so badly that I lost my senses and did this… Ah…"
Before Horace could finish his sentence, Jordan punched him to the ground.
"It was you… You killed Evelynn… You killed my daughter! She was so close to being saved… She could have grown up healthy… but you destroyed everything!" Jordan's eyes were bloodshot, his rage boiling over as if he wanted to tear Horace apart.
"A doctor's sworn duty is to heal and save lives, to relieve suffering. Yet you did something like this for your selfish desires," Yvette said as she towered over him, her eyes filled with murderous intent.
"Someone like you doesn't deserve to practice medicine."
Jordan's gaze on Horace was full of hatred, but his face carried deep sorrow. "Ms. Murray, leave him to me. I will avenge Evelynn!"
Evelynn had suffered so much before her return. He had finally found her and given her hope for recovery. But all of it was destroyed by this man! Jordan would never forgive Horace.
Yvette understood Jordan's feelings and nodded. With a heavy heart, she walked over to Evelynn's side, holding her cold, small hand.
