Landon didn't dare to put up an argument. Even though Harvey was of the same generation as them, his career was so stellar that it made them all feel the heat. He winked at Eloise. "I'll wait for you in the car."

Eloise managed to put on a weak smile.

After Landon left, a few cops, sensing the situation, jokingly said, "Attorney Horigan has some personal business to discuss. We should make ourselves scarce."

Once the area was completely quiet, Harvey looked down and fiddled with the cigarette in his hand. His fingers were long and strong, every simple movement filled with allure. After a while, he looked up at her. "Ms. Laurent, you have quite the influence."

Eloise was taken aback. She instinctively defended herself, "Today's incident had nothing to do with me…"

"You're trying to say it's none of your business?" Harvey smiled lightly, a hint of mockery in his tone. "Ms. Laurent, can't you guess why they were fighting?”

Eloise turned pale. In front of the powerful Harvey, all of her explanations seemed futile. If he said so, then it was so, because he was Harvey, the country's best lawyer, and she, Eloise, was just a small fry.

Eloise felt wronged, tears welling up in her eyes. "Attorney Horigan, I swear I won't interfere with your sister's love life."

Harvey suddenly got up and walked straight towards her.

Eloise didn't move. She opened her eyes wide and looked at him helplessly. Harvey towered over her, even flicking her face lightly. Eloise felt humiliated and turned her head away in embarrassment.

Harvey said lightly, "Ms. Laurent, you must feel unjust. Max betrayed his feelings and went with Orlena, and now it's you who's made to look like the third wheel. You feel wronged, don't you?"

"I don’t!"

"You're still thinking about him?"

"I'm not!"

Harvey retracted his hand, smiling faintly. He said, "I believe your promise."

Eloise felt awkward and angry. Why was Harvey treating her like this? She didn't dare to fight back, only mustering up a quiet. "Harvey, you're such a jerk!"
