Tangled Temptations novel Chapter 13

Eloise got dragged to the hospital by Landon. Landon was such a worrier; even a minor injury had them at the hospital for two hours.

By the time he dropped Eloise home, it was already 9 p.m.

Eloise wasn't in the best mood, but she still found the energy to apologize to Landon. "Sorry for causing you so much trouble today, Landon," she said.

Landon was feeling a whole lot more confused than she was. He thought he'd have a shot with Eloise after her breakup with Max, but then Harvey came out of nowhere. Harvey might have seemed serious on the surface, but he didn't waste any time checking Eloise out. Landon wasn't blind, he saw it all. He didn't dare to openly compete with Harvey.

The Horigan family was big news in Peterborough, and Harvey was no pushover. Landon was serious about Eloise, but he didn't want his family to get caught in the crossfire because of his love life.

Landon looked at Eloise, and said jokingly, "Eloise, if we're both still single in a few years, how about we give it a shot?"

After Harvey's hint, Eloise had a hunch about his intentions. She didn't want to put Landon in a tough spot. She shook her head. "Landon, I might leave Peterborough once my dad is out. I... I'm not thinking about that right now."

Landon just quietly looked at her. Then he suddenly laughed, a sweet laugh. “I was just kidding! Did you take me seriously? It’s kind of cold… let’s get inside! Don’t worry about your dad. I’ll talk to my dad about it again.”

Eloise was grateful for his subtlety.

As Eloise got out of the car, Landon suddenly called out to her, “Eloise!”

Eloise turned around to look at him. Landon was sitting in the car, waving at her. For some reason, Eloise’s eyes got a bit misty.

She watched the car drive away, then went inside the house. The first floor was dim, probably because a bulb had blown out. Eloise took out her phone to turn on the flashlight.

Suddenly, she was grabbed from behind, and her mouth was covered by a warm hand. In the confusion, she was dragged into a stairwell. "Mmph... let me go!"

The man's hand moved away, replaced by warm lips. The familiar scent shocked Eloise.

It was Max.

Eloise bit her lip and slapped him hard. With a loud "smack," all the lights suddenly came on.
