Tangled Temptations novel Chapter 170

Harvey pulled Eloise into a tight embrace, kissing her as he said, "Call my name again."

But this time, Eloise didn't comply.

She leaned against his shoulder, taking in his damp scent, and held him.

Harvey wanted round two.

Eloise gently stroked his chiseled face, whispering, "Rest a little longer, and drink your soup later."

Harvey chuckled, "Are you feeling sorry for me?"

Indeed, Eloise did feel sorry for him.

Her gentle and docile demeanor which Harvey particularly adored, prompted him to roll over and pin her down, seeking another intimate moment.

Just then, his phone rang. The caller ID displayed Griffin's name.

Eloise had a strong dislike for Griffin's calls.

As expected, after picking the call, Harvey's face darkened as he got up to dress.

Eloise held him from behind, refusing to let him leave.

"Harvey, can't you just ignore her? You know she's doing this on purpose, how long will you let her hurt you? Harvey, there's a limit to how much you owe her."

Eloise is also a woman... She can't always cook for him nonchalantly, then watch him go to the hospital to give blood to a crazy woman.

Seeing the puncture marks on his arm, Eloise felt suffocated.

Harvey was silent for a moment, then deeply kissed her.

He soothed her trembling body, waiting for her to calm down a bit, then softly said, "I'll be back soon."

"No, you won't be back. Joan won't let you..." This was the first time Eloise seriously discussed the issue with him, "Harvey, Joan is not your responsibility! You can help her with the lawsuit, but your indulgence is only making her crazier."

What she wanted to say was, if Joan is really crazy, she should be treated in a psychiatric ward.

Harvey probably got Eloise's point.

He looked at her affectionately, making Eloise swallow her words.

In the end, he still put on his clothes and left.

As usual, Harvey didn't come back.

Spring nights are actually quite cold. Eloise tossed and turned till 3 am and couldn't sleep anymore. She thought about going back to her own apartment, but didn't want to disturb Milo.

She sat in the living room, sleepless all night.

In the following half month, Joan's behavior became increasingly outrageous.

Eloise barely saw Harvey.

During their two meetings, he seemed very tired and fell asleep as soon as he hit the bed.

Eloise didn't probe further.

In this relationship, she was always at a disadvantage, with no way out. Their relationship was so fragile that... she couldn't even find a reason to feel sorry for him.

Sometimes, Eloise thought, maybe subconsciously, she had given up hope, and was just waiting for an outcome.

Eloise didn't expect Parker to look for her.

The CEO’s secretary of Horigan Inc. personally drove to pick Eloise, respectfully saying, "Ms. Laurent, our CEO wants to see you."

Half an hour later, Eloise was sitting in Parker's office.

Parker held Eloise in high regard. He had his secretary leave, made a cup of coffee for Eloise himself, and smiled, "I heard from Orlena that you like ground coffee, so I had my secretary buy some coffee beans. Try it."

Eloise felt flattered.

But she also understood that a man of Parker's status wouldn't easily flatter others.

This might not be a good thing.

As expected, Parker calmly put down his coffee cup.

He sat across Eloise, casually saying, "Why haven't you visited my home lately? Orlena mentions you every day, and Pauline is also looking forward to you coming over for dinner."

Eloise didn't know how to respond.

Her relationship with Harvey was currently very complex.

As a business tycoon, how could Parker not understand a young girl's thoughts?

He also knew Harvey's character.

Parker genuinely liked Eloise. She was beautiful and had a good personality.

Joan's interference kept Harvey away from home.

Parker observed calmly, detected the problem, and decided to act.

He pushed an admission invitation to The Conservatoire de Paris in front of Eloise and smiled, "There's no hidden agenda... You've been wronged recently. Why not go abroad to relax? By the time you finish your studies, Joan's case will be over, and the grudges will be settled! Then it will be the perfect time for you and Harvey to get married and have kids."

Eloise felt a chill run down her spine.

She wasn't stupid, and she understood Parker's intentions.

The bond between the Horigan and the Lynch families won't be broken because of her.

So, she was the one who had to make the sacrifice.

If she left, Harvey would suffer less.

This plan was well thought out.

Only... Eloise wasn't at fault, but in the end, she had to bear it all.

Everyone else was fine... But she had to leave her hometown.

Eloise found herself so distressed that she forgot to breathe.

A long silence fell over the luxurious office.

Parker didn't rush her. His patience with this girl seemed endless...

Finally, Eloise lifted her eyes and struggled to say, "I need some time to think."

When she got up to leave, her face was pale.

Parker felt a little sorry for her and had his secretary drive Eloise home.

Not long after Eloise left, Pauline came.

She had heard some rumors and hurried over, but Eloise had already left. The elegant and beautiful Pauline was worried as she complained, "Joan's matter shouldn't be handled by Harvey in the first place!"
