Tangled Temptations novel Chapter 173

Harvey didn't get back to his apartment until the morning.

On his way home, he spotted a white BMW parked on the side of the road.

A curious crowd was gathered around, snapping pictures. Harvey's heart pounded when he saw the license plate.

It was Eloise's car...

He parked, crossed the road quickly.

The white BMW was just sitting there.

The hood was up, soaked from the overnight rain.

The driver's door was open, a lady's purse inside, also soaked and left on the seat.

The crowd was buzzing...

Whose car was this, just left on the side of the road?

Could the owner have met with some danger?

Was there an accident, had the owner died?

Harvey stood there, momentarily forgetting to breathe.

He took out his phone in panic, only to find it was out of battery.

He reached in and took Eloise's purse, closing the car door, someone shouted, "Why are you taking other people's stuff?"

Harvey said nervously, "This is my girlfriend's car!"

The crowd looked at him, their eyes suddenly cold.

Harvey hurried back to his car, plugged in his phone to charge, and as soon as it was on, he dialed Eloise.

The phone rang for about 20 seconds before it was picked up.

Eloise's voice sounded tired, "Harvey, not now."

And then she hung up.

Harvey frowned, guessing she was still angry.

He could handle a woman's occasional temper. He thought he should just go home, take a shower, and go to her apartment later tonight to give her a perfect Valentine's Day.

Eloise was a good woman, so he didn't want to break up with her.

Harvey made another call, instructed his secretary to arrange a tow truck, and then he drove home.

Eloise was not home.

Her bedroom was in disarray, a small suitcase scattered on the floor, it looked as if she was packing, but for some reason, she didn't take her luggage.

Harvey quietly watched for a while, then went to take a shower.

After his shower, he finally lay down, just then Orlena called.

Harvey was tired, his tone not good, "Orlena, what's up?"

Orlena cried and told him, "Harvey, Eloise's dad passed away, did you know?"

Harvey's eyes, which had been slightly closed from fatigue, suddenly opened wide at this news, his gaze becoming wooden, as if in disbelief.

He finally understood why Eloise had half-packed her luggage but didn't take it, why her car broke down on the road, why she didn't have time to argue with him at the hospital...

Because her father had passed away.

What all had she gone through this night?

Harvey's face gradually turned white, and he had a feeling: his relationship with Eloise had come to an end.

Harvey rushed to the hospital.

The Laurent family was there, along with a few of their friends and relatives.

They were all saying goodbye to Eloise's father. Eloise was sitting in a wheelchair, wearing a black dress, holding a bunch of white chrysanthemums.

She looked much thinner, her chin more pronounced.

Harvey came over, Eloise just quietly looked at him, didn't say a word.

She had no love for him, nor hatred.

Landon couldn't stand it, he stepped forward, grabbed Harvey's collar, angrily said, "How dare you show up here!? Where were you when Eloise needed you most? You heartless bastard!"

Landon lowered his voice, his teeth gritted with rage.

"I've said it before, if you don't want to love her, let me do so!"

Harvey pushed Landon away.
